Purplefan - so sorry to hear your news. Take good care.

Chickie - no scientific knowledge to contribute, but if it were me and I had a spare test would no doubt be tempted to do the same. Hope the weekend speeds past and still everything crossed.

1Catherine1 · 09/09/2010 23:48

Can I join your extremely busy thread? My current EDD is 20 March 2011 but I'm looking forward to my scan on Monday Smile I'm desperate to see my baby and I'm sure it will be an amazing experience and since I'm a first timer it is all rather mysterious to me. I'd really like to have a more accurate idea of how far along I am!

PipPipPip · 09/09/2010 23:58

Purplefan I'm thinking of you and your partner. Good luck.

Larty74 · 10/09/2010 08:12

1Catherine1 welcome from a fellow first timer! just had my scan last Sat and no dates changed for me, but very exciting otherwise. Just try to stay busy until Monday - last few days feel like an eternity.

Clucky31 · 10/09/2010 09:45

Purplefan My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. You sound like you are being amazingly strong.

Chickie Keeping everything crossed that you have good news at your scan on Monday. Keeping you waiting so long just seems so cruel.

Welcome to 1Catherine1 and all the other recent newbies and congratulations to everyone who have had good scan experiences over the last few days.

I've had a bit of a mixed time over the last couple of weeks. Ended up being signed off work for a week as was so completely exhausted :( Basically ended up doing nothing but sleeping for the whole week although towards the end of it I managed to strain a muscle in my back and was in agony. GP has now referred me for ante natal physio as she thinks it might be the effect of pg hormones on my ligaments (which surprised me for this early on - I'm 14+3). Pain is starting to ease now, but I just want to get back to normal.

Hope you all have a good day and a great weekend xx

sam26oscar · 10/09/2010 10:56

chickie i did the same thing when i started bleeding it came up negative the day after i started bleeding, although i was much earlier on so not sure if it makes a hopefully someone else will come along with more experience/advice, just wanted to offer some hope to you. x

Purplefan · 10/09/2010 19:05

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your lovely messages, thoughts and wishes.

I am feeling stronger today and am able to discuss it with family and friends. I have lots of rl support and DH has been wonderful.

We will wait and see what Tuesday brings... in the meantime I am trying to keep busy and focus on my beautiful DD.

Take care all and speak soon.

me23 · 10/09/2010 20:09

I'm wishing you lots of luck purplefan.

I had a big vomitting session this afternoon, was horrible felt so weak and top it off me and OH were supposed to be going out to our fave greek restaurant tonight so had to cancel.

Has anyone bought anything baby related yet? I saw a great deal for a 2nd hand bugaboo so I couldn't let it go will be getting it on monday.

1Catherine1 · 11/09/2010 21:52

I've bought a few little bits. And I mean little bits. Things I can buy in Tesco while doing my weekly shop mainly. I have a cardboard box that's got the few things in. I have however, chosen my pram, car seat and seen an adorable little cot which will be perfect in my bedroom :)

I'm waiting for Monday's scan to make sure that I'm not having twins (my DP insists we are since his father is a twin and his grandfather is a twin so he thinks is our turn) since then my pram wouldn't be practical. I'm not expecting twins though tbh since I've done the research and know identical twins are not genetically inherited. I think I'll leave most of the baby shopping until after my second scan so I know if to buy pink or blue :)

jeffily · 12/09/2010 10:54

Just checking in with you all, I've been absent the last few weeks while we are in limbo waiting to see if our baby is healthy or if we are going to end the pregnancy. So sorry to hear that you have had bad news from your scan too Purple. It's so horrible to have got this far and think that you are out of the woods only to have it all pulled out from under your feet. I have some idea what you are going through- and my thoughts are with you for the next few days and for Tuesday and then the anxious wait for results. We have our amnio on Monday so will probably be getting results around the same time as you.

Sorry as well to hear that others have had sad news from results and that you are going through a worrying time Chickie. There are lots of new people since I was here often as well. Nice to see that the gang is growing.

I'll be back to let you all know how it goes. Take care everyone.

sam26oscar · 12/09/2010 19:50

hi to everyone hope you have had a good weekend.
Has anyone felt any movement yet??? i am 15+3 now.
i think i felt a flutter last night whilst watching strictly come dancing!!! can just about remember what it felt like with DS1, but as it was very brief ( then spent next half hour sitting quietly prodding bump )did wander if i had imagined it!!
will be interesting to hear if anyone else has!!

StrangewaysHereICome · 12/09/2010 20:32

Hi there (change of name for me, previously known as madasajarofwasps!) I'll update the list at some point!

Nice to hear from you Jeffily I hope it all goes well for you and you get some good news. Have everything crossed for you.

Also best wishes to Purple I hope you have happier times soon, and to Chickie fingers crossed for your scan.

I've not been around much lately, not much to report really. Still feeling sick morning and evening but not as bad as before but still enough to make me feel rough. The tiredness is draining too. I have been getting lots of headaches too - and I am not a headachey person, I rarely get them at all. At the moment I am suffering and not taking anything, but I might speak to the mw tomorrow.

Sam I am sure I have felt some movement too. I am 16 weeks today but last week I definitely felt a couple of wiggles. They are still quite sporadic and faint but there is no mistaking the feeling is there? I am looking forward to seeing the mw tomorrow and hopefully hearing the heartbeat for the first time.

sam26oscar · 12/09/2010 20:41

hi strange i too have midwife tomorrow and am hoping to hear the heartbeat. I am lucky as we have a local midwife drop in centre on a mon and thurs at the local surestart centre where you can just turn up and speak to the midwife and hear the heartbeat {grin] i suspect i will be there weekly!!!

emma31177 · 12/09/2010 21:48

good luck everyone with this weeks scans mw extra hope u all have a great week xx

1Catherine1 · 12/09/2010 23:37

Got my scan tomorrow.. sooo soo excited! I've phoned my DP to make sure he has sorted out not working tomorrow and he assured me he hadn't forgotten and wouldn't miss it for the world. Wish me luck :o

Emma I had my mw appointment a week last Wednesday and my scan tomorrow. My mw was the first person in the NHS who saw me about my pregnancy and she passed my details onto the hospital so they could assign me a scan appointment so I guess for me at least they had to happen in that order. But since you have your scan appointment already assigned maybe your GP actually wanted to see you, mine didn't :( My mw also said they would listen to the heart beat every appointment but my booking appointment because the baby was too small to hear it yet, so at my 16 week appointment.

I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and was hoping the morning sickness would ease off soon, spoke to my mum yesterday who told me hers went on up to 16 weeks Idk if I can handle another 3 weeks. Well I'm tired again so off to bed. Anyone else feel like they're constantly asleep or at work? I've slept for 25 hours since Friday night and I'm exhausted again.

sam26oscar · 13/09/2010 12:29

1catherine1poor you with your m/s mine went on til about 13 weeks and even now and again i still get waves of nausea Sad, i had midwife appt today and heard baby heartbeat Grin it was about 155 bpm so am already looking on internet to to see if it girl or boy!!!
strange hope all went well with your appt today did you get to hear heartbeat too???
Must get back to work i suppose!! Hope all have good days x

chickiewoo · 13/09/2010 13:11

Hi everyone - can't believe it - I had my scan this morning and all is well!!!! The sonographer first used the scan on my tummy and there was nothing there, just an empty screen, and he thought my uterus was too small for a 12 week pregnancy - naturally I feared the worst as I am still bleeding! He then did an internal scan, told me he had found the foetus, and then told me to look at the screen (I couldn't bear to look) as I would see the heart beating. All appears to be well. The bleed is a small hematoma beside the gestational sac which shouldn't be anything to worry about. I am booked for my nuchal scan and Downs screening next Monday (20th), so fingers crossed the good news continues. I had convinced myself and was prepared for bad news - so was absolutely thrilled. They've also brought my date forward by 3 days to 25 March - could someone please update the list for me - I don't think I'm capable of anything at the moment! Thank you all so much for your love and messages of support. Purplefan will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for good news and all the others that are going through tough times xxx

mixedmamameansbusiness · 13/09/2010 13:12

Hello all.

Wel thorughly knakered here as have spent the whole weekend helping my parents move house. (well I wasnt much use actually).

The sickness is lingering here too, but way more bearable. I was sick this morning and feel quite sicky today but overall feel ok, so I think I am out of the official MS period but does seem like it wot be going completely at the minute.

Straneways -love the new name.

hello to all... thinking of those of you who are waiting for results and good luck to those with scans.

Oh and movement. I am sure I have twice now felt something like a butterfly fluttering. I am not quite 15 weeks so it is highly probable that it was my stomach or my bladder.

haloflo · 13/09/2010 13:23

Hi all, I've been rubbish at posting on this thread but I am a keen lurker. I've been sent home from work today due to a software problem so I thought I'd put my feet up and catch up with MN.

chickie I am thinking of you today.

purple and jeffily Thinking of you both tomorrow.

catherine Good luck at your scan today. I am also having my 1st. Hope the MS starts to ease soon.

emma Mine was the other way round. I went to the MW and she booked the scan (for 11 weeks) and my proper booking in appointment for a week later. I hope get you get to hear the hb but they might say it's too early at 12 weeks. (mine did) Think positive. x

Not much news from me. I am 13 +1 so miles off feeling movement (I was told around 18- 22 weeks as a first timer) Nausea is much less but still there every now and again. Stomach is no longer flat and I think I might be starting to get a small bump although it just looks like I've been overindulging on the cakes.

I don't get a 16 week appointment - my MW wants to see me at 21 weeks. The next appointment though is at a local Children's Centre which hopefully will be a good way for me to have a nosy.

Personally I am still finding it hard to relax into my pregnancy. I sometimes think MN and too much information can be a bad thing. I've told a few people but am scared of the " big announcement" when it's still such early days. Anyone else feel like this?

Oh also I have a weird pain on my right hand bum cheek every time I get up? Almost like the bone is stiff. It's very hard to describe! Is this pregnancy related? Fortunately it's not unbearable and doesn't happen every time at the moment.

Good luck to those having scans this week. x

PipPipPip · 13/09/2010 13:25

Chickiewoo, that is WONDERFUL news!

I'm back from a weekend away. We went to a wedding where I ate soft cheese and shelfish with abandon, and enjoyed a couple of glasses of fizz.

All seems to have gone down fine, phew :)

Off on a week's holiday soon, but scan now finally booked for Sept 24th. Very excited about this.

haloflo · 13/09/2010 13:31

X post
chickie That is brillant news! Am so happy for you!

EvianBaby · 13/09/2010 15:16

chickiewoo that's amazing news!!! Congratulations (if that's the right thing to say?!?). I'm thrilled for you!

Might have chance to update properly later, or from work tomorrow as I'm rushing now. I had an appt with a consultant today as i had an emergency CS last time. I've also got a date for my anomaly scan. It's all getting v real!

Hope everyone elses news is as good as chickiewoo's this week...

am988 · 13/09/2010 15:29

Purple really sorry for your news - sending many positive vibes. Take care and to Chickie & Jefilly hope all went well.

Had second scan in a week last Friday - some wrong measurements were taken on the Tuesday before. They said the baby was over extended so was looking to be bigger than it was (!) so had to do the bloods again and everything all over again.

Oh well, at least someone noticed the measurements did not add up and did something about it. So did the NT scan on 13+6 wks just on the last day they could have been done. My due date was changed to 12/03/11.

good luck to all having scans

StrangewaysHereICome · 13/09/2010 16:12

Oh goodness Chickie that is such amazing news for you!!!! I am so pleased the scan went well, that must have been such a long week for you to wait for news, but worth the wait now I am sure Grin.

Saw the midwife today and did get to hear the heartbeat - amazing sound! They didn't tell me the rate though, so I won't start that guessing game just yet! Sam I think girls are meant to have faster heartbeats Wink.

As for my headaches, they are normal and hormonal. The mw asked if I was eating properly!!!! Hmm no chance of me not, I am constantly eating - steak pie and chips in the oven as I type - yum yum!

Haloflo sometimes you can scare yourself with too much information, and remember alot of people come on here for support at worrying times, so there may be a skew towards problems in pregnancy - people rarely start threads saying hello, everything is fine. Try not to worry too much. Hope you get your pain sorted, all sorts of aches can turn up as your ligaments relax.

mama - hope the sickness eases for you soon, it is tiring isn't it?

Good luck to everyone with scans coming up.

sittinghippo · 13/09/2010 17:20

14+5

Evening all. Sorry I've not been here for a while, spent last week in wet Wales in a caravan. Good times!

Its really hard to keep up with everyone on this thread, but the general gist seems good and my thoughts are with those with difficult news.

Am 14+5 as stated above, and everything suddenly gone a bit quiet, no nausea, less tired, no movements yet, not particularly huge bump, bit of a lull. Another 2 weeks til next appointment with midwife so will aim to stop obsessing for a few days...

strangeways please can you update me on the list when you do yours, I was previously bevyboo. Many thanks, thought I'd allow you to stop cluttering up the thread to much.

me23 and 1catherine1 I have already gone a wee bit mad on the shopping front. I couldnt resist, and i think its because I'm less superstitious this time around, and when Tesco were doing their double value on their vouchers I bought £80 worth of nappies and wipes!!!!!

This is the biggest expense with a new baby so figured I'd make the most of the double value vouchers... can you blame me?
