Oh Chickiewoo
Can imagine how horrible it is to wait - just rest a lot and sleep if you can - good idea not to go to work.

As for me, I can't believe it, I had the scan yesterday, midwife just called me telling me that there is something odd with my scan measurements (?!) the sonographer thought baby is 14+weeks so too late for nuchal scan, yet EDD is 13+1. So it is either the sonographer made a mistake OR that something is not right. I hope it is the former! I couldn't believe it!!! So I have to go again...

Purplefan · 08/09/2010 19:34

Chickie glad the bleeding has eased. Hope you are resting well!

I am glad that I have completed my working week and I am totally shattered!!! However, it is scan time 2moro so quite excited!!

Hope all is well with everyone and fingers crossed I will be back 2moro with some good news!

niamh29 · 08/09/2010 19:41

Sorry about the news chickie, hope it works out ok!

Best of luck for tomorrow purplefan, I'm tomorrow too, scan is at 10am, I'm delighted to have it so early cause I'll be so nervous tomorrow!

Hope I'll be reporting back good news!

Jupiter118 · 08/09/2010 20:09

Fingers crossed for you Chickie Woo - feet up on the sofa for now though!!

Thanks for the tips re: being a bit bunged. Perhaps trip to see GP might be in order Hmm

Still no end in site on the nausea front - was sick just before lunch - not good. Also v tired, but partly as too much work. Have a bid document to finish writing (suspect it won't win given my current lack of brain, ability to be productive and enthusiasm) and work is busy just when I could really do with it being quiet. Why is that always the way?

Good to hear postive scan stories from others and good luck for those going tomorrow.

x

Hi All,

I have been watching this thread for a very long time but until today have been very nervous about joining it after suffering a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks in Jan. However have had my dating scan today and all is well. I'm due 17th March so will add myself to the list.

Just wanted to say congratulations to everybody and thinking of those who have not had such good news.

Chickie all fingers and toes crossed for you. Can't believe you have to wait till Monday - I'd be crawling on the ceiling by then - but I really hope it is good news. Certainly reassuring the bleeding has stopped.

On a different note... How bad is stress for pregnancy? It's a long story but my DH is working abroad and unlikely to be back for more than 3 days at Christmas between now and when I go into labour (and I'm praying I'm late...).

For the last week we have just been winding each other up and arguing every time we e-mail we end up arguing (we can barely ever speak because communications where he is are truly appalling).

I don't like moaning to my family or friends about my relationship - after all both DH and I knew he was going to be away for nine months and managed to get ourselves in this situation - but am nearly pulling my hair out with irritation / sadness / confusion / anger / regret / etc.... and am now worried it must be having a really bad effect on the 14 and 4 darling growing inside me.

Hope this doesn't sound too self indulgent - I know things could be much worse - I'm not a fan of moaning but somehow (sorry everyone!) it's easier to strangers lol!

Here's my details changed on the list...

chickiewoo · 08/09/2010 21:06

Thanks again for your positive messages of support. After a fairly quiet day on the sofa, the bleeding has started again - bright red and also have low abdominal achey pain - really not feeling that positive and my scan on Monday feels like an eternity away, but nothing I can do. Still trying to keep a bit of hope - but please say a prayer for me tonight x

emma31177 · 08/09/2010 21:20

thinking of u chickiewoo please try and go a&e they will see u faster even more now u got pain will be praying for u though am sure things will be just fine stay strong hun we all here for u xx

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 08/09/2010 22:33

Chickiewoo, just couldn't read your last post without sending all best wishes - the prayer has been said and fingers and toes still crossed. Really think you should go to A&E - even if only because the worry of it all won't help.

xxx

PipPipPip · 09/09/2010 09:31

Chickie wishing you luck and strength.

Spiltthetea I've just come out the other side of a three-day headache. I haven't had nausea at all during the pregnancy, but on the third day of the headache (yesterday) I was vomiting. Seems to have cleared now, thank god.

Bluebeach I had to laugh at your funny/gross description of your poo. Am I immature? haha

Maitri · 09/09/2010 09:48

NowPanic I don't think that stress is too harmful during pregnancy. I think it's more biological stressors that do the damage; nicotine, drugs etc. Our bodies (fortunately!) are really well designed to cope with stress. I've always found pregnancy the MOST stressful periods of my life for various reasons; either hormonal or outside factors.

My hormones have always played havoc with my r'ship with DH during pregnancy. He's been working away from time to time and I swing from missing him terribly to not being able to stand the sight of him - ooh, I can feel the irritation as I write...

Kagey · 09/09/2010 10:09

Chickie hope you are ok this morning.

I had my scan this morning and and thankfully all ok. Little one was moving about and wriggling. I even have my next scan appointment for 4th November!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 09/09/2010 10:16

Hi all.

Chick - thinking of you. Big hugs.

NowPanic - I had a really stressful period of time when pregnant with DS1 and got hospitalised (it turns out with migraine) as i lost the ability to talk/write etc. HOWEVER, I was 9 weeks being horrednously sick ALL THE TIME and am prone to migraines anyway, so whilst I think it can play a part it depends on your propensity for dealing with stress in usual circs. I doubt very much that any lasting damage could be caused... and as others have said I have always been mega stressed with everything when preg which I put down to hormones.

Split - I recieved Mat All. in my last job as I was temping, but I work part time so is it not pro-rata'd (sp). Also though my job is the most boring in the whole world and I work not really for the money (which isnt that great and actually prob not much better off) but for adult interaction abit of me time etc and since I have started back at uni I feel I get much more satisfaction from that tbh, plus DS1 started primary school and now I feel like I just want to be there all the time (it is a compulsion). The mat pay was a sort of side issue that just cemented the dealw ith DH. Grin

Larty74 · 09/09/2010 12:37

chick thoughts and prayers going out to you! be strong -you can do this!

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 09/09/2010 14:19

Chickie thinking of you. Hope today ok.

Am such a first timer Smile. Have changed hospital as really not happy with St Mary's Paddington and had first appt at C&W today. So much happier. They warned me against trying for heartbeat as often can't hear at 14 n 5 but I really wanted to and it was as loud as a steam train Smile Smile Smile. such a relief!

Also managed to actually talk to DH last night and other than him thinking I'm mental (shouting and then crying - not my normal behaviour!) it was great. We really cleared the air and am just feeling so much happier about the whole thing. Maitri and Mixedmama thanks so much for perspective and not just telling me to quit moaning!

Xx

Purplefan · 09/09/2010 17:13

Hi all,

I had my scan today and unfortunately I need to add myself to the list of those receiving bad news.
The sonographer told us that whilst all looked well from the front (baby wiggling arms and legs around), when it turned over she saw too much fluid. She said it is likely a Chromosome disorder that is not compatible with life! Sad

We spent some time with the genetics expert who explained everything. The biggest pocket of fluid that they measured was 10mm Shock

We have an appointment in Oxford JR hospital on Tuesday at 10am for a CVS. Whilst there is a very small glimmer of hope, it is likely that this baby will not make it!!!

We are both gutted, and obviously preparing for the worse. Just so pleased that haven't said anything to DD as it is hard enough to cope with, let alone explainning to a 4.5 year old.

Sorry to bring more glum news to this thread. Hope you are all well. x

sam26oscar · 09/09/2010 17:26

purplefan I am so sorry for you Sad i really hope that the glimmer turns out to be a ray of sunshine, sending hugs xx

emma31177 · 09/09/2010 18:06

purplefan thinking of u hun keep strong xx

Larty74 · 09/09/2010 18:16

so very sorry purple look after yourselves and your sweet DD

Oceanbreeze · 09/09/2010 19:52

So sorry Purple

niamh29 · 09/09/2010 20:09

Purplefan: I am so so sorry about your news! My heart goes out to know at the moment!

I also had my first scan today and thankfully I have better news, although it was pretty stressful. My scan was at 10am and the OB didn't turn up till 11:30, we had to collect DD from school at 12:30 so we were eager to get a move on, we finally went in to get the scan at 12:50, he put the scanner on me and my first thought was "where's the baby" I couldn't see him! The OB was quiet for ages and then said he could see the baby but not well, I don't know if this is cause I'm a plus size or cause they were using an old scanner. He said I could go next door for an internal scan or come back in a month and I thought "there's no way I'm going home like this" so had the internal,

niamh29 · 09/09/2010 20:17

Contd: the internal scanner was much newer and straight away I saw a great picture (my DH had to go collect DD so I was alone and very emotional) the OB and nurse were very nice and reassuring, he spent ages taking pictures and measurements and said everything seems fine and I'm 12+2 so
I'm so so happy, I was emotional for a long time afterwards but now I'm just so relieved!!

I'm sorry to all those who are going through a hard time! I'll be thinking of ye!!

EvianBaby · 09/09/2010 21:00

chickiewoo I'm so sorry that the bleeding has started again and that you have to wait until Monday for your scan. I can't imagine how worried you must be. Like others have said, if you feel like you should go to A&E. My pregnant friend was bleeding a while ago and I phoned the maternity ward on her behalf. Their advice was for her to visit A&E if the bleeding continued or she experienced pain, apparently A&E can scan (or arrange for an immediate scan) if they are concerned. Whatever you decide, and only you know what you feel most comfortable with, I'm thinking of you. Take care.

purplefan - Again, i'm so sorry to hear about your scan. That must have been such a shock. You sound like you're being strong, I really really feel for you. I can't think what else I can say to help but you know where we all are. Take care, sending hugely positive thoughts your way, all the luck in the world for Tuesday.

Hope everyone is well. Such sad news mixed with some really positive news. So pleased for all of you who have had reassuring scans, that really is great news. Welcome to the new people too! nowpanic when I was pregnant with DS we went through quite a stressful couple of weeks, I read that some degree of stress is a positive thing for an unborn baby Confused, apparently the increase in stress hormone helps prepare the baby for the outside world! Smile

chickiewoo · 09/09/2010 22:10

purplefan so sorry to hear the news about your scan - take care of yourself and try and stay positive - you have all of our support here and know that we are thinking of you

Thanks for continued messages of support for me - I've had a really sicky day so not sure if that's good or bad - to be honest I don't know what I'm feeling at the moment other than wishing I can fast forward to Monday morning for my scan. Have been bleeding a little again tonight. Did a pregnancy test today and it was positive, but am guessing that even if you have miscarried/are miscarrying then pregnancy hormones can hang around in your system for a little while - don't know if anyone can offer me any advice on this??? I admit it probably wasn't the most intelligent thing to do but I had a spare test so just did it

Muser · 09/09/2010 22:26

I'm so sorry to hear that purplefan. Please look after yourself.

I won't be around for a while as I'm off on holiday. Hope there's good news for all while I'm away.
