Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
bevl81 · 05/09/2010 15:44

bluebeach lol I'm the same - I see signs in everything at the moment, especially the old rhyme about blackbirds, 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl, 4 for a boy and so on... so if I only see 1 magpie, thats it I'm convinced its an omen!!! Dafties aren't we. (its better when I see 4 then I smile)

Am also SUPER emotional, I was crying to Elton Johns Candle in the Wind this morning... god help me.

PipPipPip · 05/09/2010 15:53

I cried watching Supernanny the other night - WTF?

Campervanfan · 05/09/2010 20:24

Oh I can cry at anything at the moment! Dh starts work again tmrw, he a college tutor, so I've been looking after DD most of weekend and I'm exhausted! Work for me tmrw too. I work 5 days he works 2 so he the main carer and DD goes to nursery 2 days a week. I went back full time in anticipation of saving for number 2, already can't wait to be off again!

Anyone else got practically constant thrush? It's driving me crazy, I had it last time PG, v rarely when not PG. The suppositories don't seem to work or it comes back a week or 2 later and the area is constantly sore Blush

Larty74 · 05/09/2010 21:00

Campervanfan I feel your pain. literally. really sucks. nothing works for me either. I read somewhere somebody took Nelson's Candida tablets during pregnancy and it helped. going to check first w/ gp/midwive before i invest.

Larty74 · 05/09/2010 21:06

Sometimes I feel really guilty for really wanting the baby to be a certain sex. Anyone else? I mean so far I'm ever so grateful all is well and that's all I should care about but it must happen to everyone at some point? Does it? Does it ever switch to the other? Is it because it's our first pg?

Discuss. Confused

niamh29 · 05/09/2010 21:28

We have 2 DD's and we are hoping this is a boy, but if it's not it doesn't really matter as long as the baby is happy and healthy. All the same we're going to try and find out so we know one way or the other!

bluebeach · 05/09/2010 22:20

Thanks for the reassuring messages guys. Its good to know i'm not the only loon out there Smile
I guess it is kind of normal feeling unsure about things until you can feel things actually moving around. And I should probably limit my internet research as there are so many heart breaking stories. Like one of you said (sorry I'm too tired to do names tonight) you have to trust that your body will do the right thing.

I do the magpie thing too though!

I've resisted ordering a Dopplar as I know I would be using it all the time and not finding a heart beat would send me crazy (I was trying to find it with a stethascope we had from an old fancy dress costume until I read that that was a stupid thing to do!).

Regarding sex, I really don't mind so we are not going to find out...though we are finding girls names easier to agree on.

Well here's to a positive week of happy scan stories, the ceasing of sickness and attempting to be rational in our irrational states! x

sam26oscar · 05/09/2010 23:24

have to say i do the magpie too!! If i see one on its own i search frantically for its mate!! Surprisingly, i am still up after having a really bad nights sleep last night, saw 4.15am then up at 8am to collect DS for rugby training. Then standing around watching said rugby training then DS birthday party this afternoon... a rugby themed party, getting an idea that DS rugby mad??!!

Finally told parents that am pg kinda getting obvious now at 14+3!! Dad was gobsmacked but in a really pleased and happy way!! Said thought that DS was going to be only child as he is 6, and just assumed he would be only child!! Mum wants me to find out sex so she can just shop Grin!!Sorry but I don't want to know, DH has other ideas though!

Have had 20 week scan date through for 14th Oct DH still away, do i go by myself so am not pressured into finding out the sex or change appt so he can come?????
He is not aware that i have had the date through yet.

your thoughts would be appreciated Smile

all back to normal tomorrow, work and school starts!
Good luck to those with first school run after 6 weeks off Wink

PipPipPip · 06/09/2010 12:36

Hi ladies,

I'm having my first GP appointment tomorrow, where I'll have to nominate my choice of hospitals.

I'm a bit confused about catchment areas etc. Have any of you requested a hospital out of your "catchment area"?

I'm a bit slow on all of this (only seeing GP for first time at 11 weeks) as I moved house earlier in the pregnancy.

me23 · 06/09/2010 14:46

I had my scan today and everything is fine Smile I convinced myself something had gone wrong. However I saw the heart beat straight away and was reassured. Sonographer just everything looked fine and nuchal was very low risk, it's amazing to see our little baby on the screen waving at us. Can't wait to show dd the pics and dvd when she gets back from school.

Larty74 · 06/09/2010 15:25

Hurray! me23 great news. i'm still on a high from mine on Sat and had also convinced myself it wouldn't be ok. what are we like!

am988 · 06/09/2010 16:26

Hi all,
My scan is tomorrow afternoon and I am also very worried. I hope it goes well. Last time I had a scan, it wasn't good news. Guess some bad things keep haunting you until something good happens, right?
Will be in touch.
x A

superpenguin · 06/09/2010 16:38

Hello everyone, just popping in.
How are you all?

Nice to read about more new people joining our thread (hi! :) ) and about happy scan news too.

Sympathy to those still feeling sick. :( By the way is anyone feeling better yet?
I am now 14+3 and still feeling nauseous all day, and have actually been sick twice in the last week. Thought I was over that but clearly not! Never mind.

Ooooh I saw a tiny baby at the weekend! :) A friend from school (not a close friend but kind of in the same group of friends if you see what I mean!) was at our mutual friends' house when I was there on Saturday and she has just had a new baby boy, only 11 days old! He was so cute and tiny! He cried a lot though, and I didn't get to hold him (didn't like to ask really). Her DD age 3 was also there, and I have to say the whole thing was a little daunting and scary - this is what my life is going to be like soon! Confused Shock As most of the friends I see regularly don't have kids it was all a little new and strange for me. Better get used to the idea of having kids around I guess! The next six months may fly by...

emma31177 · 06/09/2010 17:15

Jupiter118 · 06/09/2010 17:46

Hello - I have been lurking for a while (is that the right terminology?), but finally at 12 weeks feel brave enough to join in. Scan was at 10.5 weeks and (touch wood) all seems fine so far)

Can't work out how to add myself to the list, but:

Jupiter118 - 21 March - Pg#2 (DS 3.5)

I too do the magpie thing - craning my neck in the car if I have only seen one to look for another. A bit mad, but...

Currently wondering if the nausea will ever end - it seems to be getting worse not better and following oodles and oodles of dry retching I was acually sick at the weekend - yuck!! Is not making for productive days at work which considering the state of this week's to do list is not good.

Hope others are entering the 2nd trimester bloom!

x

Campervanfan · 06/09/2010 19:10

Good luck for tomorrow am988, mine is tomorrow too! Fingers crossed for us both x

niamh29 · 06/09/2010 20:07

PipPipPip · 06/09/2010 21:03

I'm jealous of you all having your scans! I'm 10 weeks and only seeing the GP for the first time - a few delays due to moving house etc. I guess my scan is still a couple of weeks away, making me the "late bloomer" of the group!

Larty74 · 07/09/2010 08:48

Back to school today and my head is so not in it - yet anyway. Told my headteacher the other day and was great about it!

EvianBaby · 07/09/2010 08:54

Morning all!

Just popping by to say hi! Welcome to the newbies (and congratulations Smile) and congratulations to everyone who has had scans recently. We seem to be having lots more good news this week which is excellent!

I'm 13+5 now and starting to feel less sick (although just as I start to feel better I am sick again!) but still feel so tired! I think I could sleep all day if I didn't have to work and look after DS!

Anyway, this was just a quick hello before I officially start work at 9am!

Have a good day everyone!

am988 · 07/09/2010 08:54

Good morning all! Scan later on.... very very excited but worried at the same time - good luck to us campervanfan :) supposed to be working from home before setting offto the hospital but haven't achieved much yet!

Miraculously I had a good night's sleep first time in the past months. I couldn't believe it was light when I woke up cause normally it is still very dark!

Take care all,
xx A
