dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 00:15

do love you ladies and all the reading i have to do to catch up.
I cant decided what to get my stork, just cant make my mind up! could my stork tell me what she would like???LOL!
I have won lots of new things on ebay for my baby, and paid via dh's credit card. excellent!!
george, surely your not that far from southampton area are you? londons not a huge drive from us and you're kinda left of there right?! someone else is near you I remember thnking..wait let me check...ebbie, shes in bedfordshire.......near-ish you? I remember going shopping in Luton when we lived in Aylesbury anyhow. think we may have to have to have mini meet ups as we are so spread about!
nemo, never mind TWO children in tow, I will have four -enough to scare anyone!!! it would be very jammy of me if you all trekked to southampton, I could make us all tea!
do you think we'd like each other in real life??!!

Nemo1977 · 02/09/2005 00:21

lol DQ who knows if we would get on in real life...being online is easy as it hides a lot of flaws..pmsl

ninah · 02/09/2005 08:26

I think you get quite a good picture of what people are like from talking on here, nemo, I've always been quite cagey about meetups but I have no reservations here at all.
I had some ideas for my stork but no chance to plan them into action for another fortnight as we have wedding in Herefords this weekend and a lunch and ds's party next weekend. Promise after that I will hit the shops. I've a good idea of what I'm after!
Yup London to Southampton is not too far. Mind you the last time I did it I had a crash on the ring road looking for ?Bursledon I think it was. My friend moved about 3 times now she's in Shirley which is easy peasy.
Hope everyone has a good day. Sh remember to hobble and wince this morning! (even if you feel pain you must be sure and SHOW it - like doing the mirrors when you take your driving test!)

goldenoldie · 02/09/2005 09:19

Hi ladies - I'm crashing from the Nov thread. A few of us based in Ldn are meeting for lunch - December girlies are welcome too.

Meet-up.
Friday 9 September.

We are meeting at 12:30 at Wagamammas in the N1 Centre, Angel Islington. The N1 centre is opposite the Angel tube station, and Wagamammas is upstairs.

If you fancy coming can you CAT me your proper name/mobile number and I will circulate to the rest of those meeting up, in case of problems.

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 09:56

Morning everyone,

Well I had a great start to the morning - over slept by nearly an hour which made me late for work!!!

Oh well, at least it makes my day shorter now!!

Bonkerz - I'm about 20 mins outside of B'stoke - Fleet.

I have met a couple of other MN'ers before. I thought it would be awkward but ninah is quite right that you get a feel for people on here just by the things they say.

Southampton is under 1.5 hours out of London by car - probably only just over an hour by train I would think. It's not far for me to go and I'd be quite happy to drive down when I'm on mat leave!!!!!

I'm not quite sure what to buy as my stork gift - please post some ideas on here!!!!!

dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 10:08

oh ninah, your friend is literally moments from me I am in Bassett, southampton. you must add me to your list of visits next time in southampton! I'm 100% sure all you ladies are as nice as you sound, its me I'm worried about1 I'm abit mad, -incase you hadnt spotted that!!- and think you would all be like 'woah! mad lady!!!' when you met me
golden, thankyou for the offer, I cant make it tho, but hope it goes well for you guys.
s/h hope youre shorter day goes fast for you!

stork gifts ideas/ hmmmmmmm...from the american one I have been in the gifts were....baby clothes are the usual choice, or items for the nursery -pictures, toys, blankets, tiny soft baby comforter/toy, pampering items for either mummy or newborn, items for labour bag, or thankyou cards for all thsoe baby gifts, that kinda thing, often anything nice/special that you prob would not count as essential and therefore not buy yourself. i hope my stork can put up with me not making up my mind and sending about three little things instead!

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 10:16

OK - my boss has just redeemed himself after yesterday.

He came in with an appointment card this morning. He's booked me into his Oesteopath!!!

scully · 02/09/2005 11:16

That is funny sh, obviously realised that you shouldn't have been doing what you were yesterday! Bit late though
I'm also close to Basingstoke (Farnham), meet up would be good, before or after, would be a bit strange though, putting faces to names!
My last day at work is 25/11, 12wks or 60 working days left
Just finished filling in my forms with my dates actually, a very nice feeling!

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 11:24

scully - I've just handed in my MAT B1 so mat leave is all official now!!!

I start my mat leave from 12th November so I'll be free from then if we are going to meet up.

I'd probably prefer a weekday so dd will be at school.

Are we going to do this????????????

ninah · 02/09/2005 11:29

mad is good dq. Right, you're on. Do you know any Zaras (quite unusal name) 3 children?
That's great sh! what a result.
Sorry golden I can't do next Friday but hope you all have a great time.

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 11:32

I don't know any Zara's???? How come ninah???

GO - sorry, I can't make next Fri either - I'll still be at work!!!

ninah · 02/09/2005 11:33

sorry that was to dq, she lives in Shirley which apparently is nearby to dq
oh dear ...
she doesn't ride horses

expatinscotland · 02/09/2005 11:33

When do you get the MATB1? I'm 24 weeks along now. I think.

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 11:43

you can get it any time from you rmw Expat. If you don't have an appt coming up you can phone them and they usually leave it at the reception desk for you.

scully · 02/09/2005 12:46

yep, I'm 25wks tomorrow and I picked up my matb1 form on Wed, when at the hospital. Payroll were wanting it, and I also want an upgrade on SouthWest trains so I can sit in first class when there are no other seats left, so that was my incentive to remember to ask for it. sh, I sent mine off to HR today as well, nice feeling isn't it
Makes it all seem very real now........

dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 14:15

nope, dont know any zaras, but then 'know' alot of people just to say hello to from school run ect and dont actually know their names! (how bad is that!!)if anyone wants to be in southampton sometime in novemeber I would love to buy you a coffee (decaff of course) even if its just one or two of you. for all the further away ladies, I'm really sorry we arent all next door and can see everyone. maybe you can have an 'up north' get together? at least with secret stork we have a nice way to get in touch with one of us all. cause I'm getting very fond of you guys(all soppy pg hormones here.........)

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 14:27

lol DQ - are you crying yet!!! Soppy beggar!!

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 14:28

oh and I know loads of school mums who I'd stop and talk to but have absolutly no idea what they are called

sweetheart · 02/09/2005 14:31

OK - all those of you who fancy a meet up sign in here

dramaqueen72 · 02/09/2005 14:36

I'm signed up s/h that might put everyone else off tho.........
no, not crying, just really full of 'how much I love everyone' statements today. trust me tomorrow I shall be back to growling again.

scully · 02/09/2005 15:05

Just had a vanilla thickshake, delicious
