Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
notso · 21/07/2010 12:20

QoD eBay! I was up bidding until gone midnight.
Thanks for those will have a look, have won a nature babies wrap.
I think our problem was that we were given mountains of clothes when he was born from Next, Gap and similar in Newborn sizes and he was 9lb 5 so almost out of them anyway and the big botz bum was the final straw. I also spent a fortune on Totz Botz without trying anything else, so want to give a few types a go this time before shelling out, although they were very good. Will also be exchanging small size gifts where possible for bigger sizes.

notso · 21/07/2010 12:24

I love Betws GGG, it beautiful there, I am about an hour or so from there, don't know about the bus sorry could try and find out though, also will try and sort out getting there for a meet up

GreenGeekGirl · 21/07/2010 12:46

Actually just found a bus but thanks notso! I'll have some free time on the Sunday daytime if that's helpful. I just had a look at the rest of the schedule and it's looking pretty hectic. I'm a bridesmaid and they are putting me to good use I can tell you! I'm just very, very glad that they accidentally bought my dress a size too big when they got it a year ago

Lavitabellissima · 21/07/2010 13:13

GGG Enjoy your bridesmaid duties, I'm one the following w/e in Cornwall and can't wait.

I love wedding's, I am supposed to be getting married Sept next year but think I need to see how well I manage with 2 babies, if I have the energy to organise a wedding in Italy as well also really hoping I manage to get back my pre pregnancy figure!

20 week scan next Tuesday, I can't wait

jobobpip08 · 21/07/2010 13:18

notso I've gone the other way and am deliberately not worrying this time. But a mothers instinct is a good one so if you ever are worried don't let people fob you off, push until you have the answers/reassurance you need.

Had to look up the Arms Reach to see what it was! We're going with our moses basket and then we have a drop side cot (complete with teeth marks!) as I am planning to BF again.

I'm re-using DS1 motherease nappies, they were great the last time just hoping the moths haven't got to them! There seems to be much more choice these days. Our Maternity have started usin resusables, makes me feel much better as none of my friends have.

I am too about people meeting! Sometimes wish I lived in the UK.

cheryl glad it went better today. Any chance they can do another scan?

QueenofDreams · 21/07/2010 13:22

notso DS was 9lb8 at birth so I know what you mean about the newborn sizes ( I think he was in newborn for about a week) DS shape though is different - he was long and slim, so he grew out of things lengthwise before he filled out the girth IYSWIM. So I think that's why we had no probs with getting the cloth nappy into his clothes. Forgot to mention another nappy that I LOVE is the Close Parent (used to be modern baby) Pop-in. It's a one-size nappy in the All in 2 style (the inserts popper into the waterproof outer shell) I've found they work really well on DS, and even work overnight.

MrsSnaplegs · 21/07/2010 14:56

cherylanntweedy No it shouldn't take this long to get a house allocated, relucatnat to post too many details on here but ultimately I also have ME, this means we need a house in a particular location. The house we were originally offered we were told to get Welfare to ask them to reject - we are now waiting for an OT assessment to tell them why it is not suitable (even though we have given them all this info already along with Dr letters etc etc) There is a house just around the corner form my job wwhich would be ideal but because it is abovee our entitlement we are having to jump through hops even though it has been empty for at least 2 months. Spoke to OT this morning and they have said they should be able to see me in next couple of weeks, after this it will probably be anther 4-6 weeks until we can move if they decide to offer us this house round the corner! Frustrated because when we originally applied for house we gave them all the relevant information and referral letters then so it all explained what we needed and why. also frustrated because I have lived with this condition for 14 yrs now and know more about it than most of my health care professionals as well as being a qualified nurse but they won't take my word for it. Thanks for the offer of tea - I am normally so shattered after work I just sleep! Will try and make the effort! That was a mammoth post by the way

Welcome to new members - we are not all mad we just seemit sometimes!

DF my understanding is they don't adjust due date again but I could be wrong!

Think someone has given me a sleeping bug - can't seem to stop at the moment! Went home early yesterday and had a 4 hour nap followed by an 8 hour sleep! today have moved the comfy chair outof my boss's office (he's on leave) and had a quite hour with my door shut! planning to go home in an hour and have another nap before dinner someone wake me up in December!

squistle · 21/07/2010 16:02

Hi Kathsunn & marlus

japhrimel · 21/07/2010 16:55

My MIL told me this w/e that big babies run in my DH's family. Him, his sister, his brother, his mum, his aunt, his two cousins AND his cousin's LO were all 9lb plus.

I'm not bothered at the idea of home birthing a big baby (my MIL thought it might be an issue) as I think being freer to move around and use a pool will be helpful, but I really hope our pip breaks the family trend!

I'm buying a few bits in Newborn size (actually bought some today in the sales ) but not much as it doesn't last long even if you have an average size baby. Thinking of which, I must go hide them before DH gets home - he doesn't want to buy stuff yet, but I couldn't resist.

Q for Mums - with cardi's, can you get away with using the next size up? E.g. using a 0-3 months (14lb) cardi for a newborn.

Angelgirl79 · 21/07/2010 17:09

Hi All not posted for ages but been keeping up with thread.

Got my 20 wk scan on Friday as my dd has been moved forward to 12 December.

Feeling the need to rant and no where else to vent. Got up this morning and drove DH to work at 6.30am as his car in garage. Then drove home to leave DSD her lunch money as I had forgotten to leave it. Then drove to work for 7.15am as lots to do before we go to Butlins for a week with DSD and her friend (both 15). Then had to leave work at 2.50 to pick DH up from work at 3.10 and take him home before returning to work where I am now and will be for anothe hour and a half!! Reason for rant, I had a meeting that ran over to 3pm so I was ten mins late picking DH up from work. He then ignored me all the home til i dropped him off and then took myself off to work.

Feeling emotionally and physically drained and could curl up in a ball and cry. In fact typing this i am welling up. Had a manic two weeks at work as the partner I work for is off until next wed so been holding the fort with her work as well as trying to get up to speed with all my own in prep for being off next week.

Is pregnancy making me completly irrantional - way I feel right now is completely unappreciated and like I want to run away from it all.

I became a full time mum to my 15 yr old dsd in April which was a shock to the system and found out I was pregnant at the same time.

sorry for rambling x

jobobpip08 · 21/07/2010 17:52

Angel its not pregnancy and you're not rambling. DH is behaving like a...a....I would say child but my child doesn't do that! You are unappreciated - talk about ungrateful! Perhaps you could leave the bus times out for him to get to work tomorrow?

You have a huge amount on your plate right now - I couldn't even begin to imagine what it must be like to take on a DSD and a teenage one at that, the work I can imagine and it does drain you, even moreso when you are pregnant.

Any chance you can lock yourself in the bathroom for a nice long soak and have some 'me' time as a quick fix?

Big hugs hun, hope he sees how daft hes been and how lucky he is.
xxx

Angelgirl79 · 21/07/2010 17:58

Thanks Jobobpip, I think that's exactly what im going to do when I get home, then take myself to bed with my book and let him sort tea out for both of them!

Feel better for venting it - sometimes I just think im going mad and i know its him not me right now xxx

QueenofDreams · 21/07/2010 18:58

angel I agree it sounds like you're unappreciated. But men can be so bloody childish sometimes.

japhrimel yes you can. I had DS in a 0-3 cardi from newborn. It does look a little baggy, but tbh all clothes look rumply on a little newborn

Wholelottalove · 21/07/2010 21:31

Hi all. Haven't posted for a while and will try and catch up. Just wanted to check in and say all is well here and hope everyone is ok.

PJen · 21/07/2010 22:56

Woohoo strix to meeting up on 7th!! Costa sounds great! I am nervous for our tripple blind dat ;) really wished more of you girls could join....
I M now on a NCT class and possibly getting on a hypnobirth class as well. Work has been stressful and haven't had time to read yet but am dying to get some of the books people recommended on MN.

I was too busy today to read up here and honestly I missed you girls. It is part of my routine now to read your stories and chit chats.

cheryl a woohoo to your lovely post!

93pjb · 22/07/2010 06:27

hello all,

hope you are all well, SPD aside and that improves too. Welcome to newcomers and yay for lovely 20 week scans, mine is a week on monday so I can hardly wait.

I'm having a very busy time at work right now. Have had to cancel my holiday for the week after next which will be interesting as DH will be in China then. Thankfully my mum and mil can help out so it's not just me, dd and a pile of work! looking on the bright side that means I deserve a very nice 2 week break late august/early sept!

bakingkeepsmesane · 22/07/2010 07:26

notso I'm in mid Wales 20 miles inland from Aberystwyth - don't know how near to you? Only just moved there & loving it! greengeekgirl know where you're moving...fab, did a western herbal medicine course & have foraged with the self sufficientish twins around there! X

OnlyWantsOne · 22/07/2010 07:38

are any of you planning on having your babies in Manchester?

Urgh, Im sick of DD's moaning all ready - "please help me please help me please help me" she wants me to go in the other room and change the TV channel for her because she cba... yes shes 3, but she knows how to do it! Im not her bloody slave!

notso · 22/07/2010 09:21

Hi, another rainy day here boo!

QoD and jobob thanks for nappy recommendations, jobob thats great that your maternity unit use them, I got some really funny looks/comments from one of the home visit midwives when DS was in them.

GGG sorry can't make Sunday, we have to move a piano. We've kindly been given one and really need to shift it this weekend no clue how yet! Shame, hope you enjoy the Wedding, Betws and your bridesmaidly duties!

MrsSl Poor you having to go through all that to get a house, I hope they get their act together and sort it out soon.

japh DS was over 9lb and the birth was ok although was shocked at the size of him! Positioning helps, I was in a crap position and realise now things prob would've been quicker if I'd moved. Yes to bigger cardigans, you can probably get away with bigger everything if you are having a large baby, I'm not buying much in Newborn this time, stuff in 1 month or 2-4 months is good.

Angel Hope you are feeling better today, sounds like you need a break. Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

PJen hope work gets less stressful for you.
I wanted to join an NCT class but like most things theres non in this area.

93pjb You def deserve a break, make double sure you get one!

baking I am in Wrexham, first time I've said that on MN! I'm always worried someone will track me down or SIL will discover MN and all the stuff I've posted about her!

OWO Wish I was having a baby in Manchester, my friend did and the hospital was fab, they let her co-sleep as she was BF.
With you there on moaning DC, DD has had me foraging in the ironing cupboard for particular clothes we're only going to the bread shop!

Toy Story 3 was brilliant yesterday, I cried at the end much to DC's amusement Baby was really jumpy during the film though wonder if it was too loud.
Managed to cook a proper meal yesterday too maybe I'm getting my mojo back at last.

Miffster · 22/07/2010 09:22

Morning, been reading but not had time to comment as so often seems the case, thiese threads move so fast! Thinking of you all and sending empathy waves to those having a stressy time. Welcome new joiners. Will be on holiday 7th August otherwise wuld hav eloved to join you; we are going to Portugal for a last grown up fortnights break and I am so looking forward to it, not had a hol for over 2 years.

OP posts:
SlightlyTired · 22/07/2010 09:30

Hi all. OWO, at least she's saying "please" and not crumpling into a snotty ball of rage on the floor. Speaking of 3 year old DDs, mine is taking years off my life at the moment. She is SO accident prone - constantly falling over (the other day she fell down the stairs - heart stopping moment) and now she has knocked her front tooth really hard and it has gone grey. I am so upset about it - my perfect little baby has a grey tooth like a cartoon convict!! DH keeps telling me to get over it - it's just a baby tooth and it will fall out eventually - but meanwhile I have to (a) look at it and (b) look like the bad mother who doesn't brush her child's teeth. Sigh.

notso · 22/07/2010 09:31

Hi Miffster, Hows your Brother? Portugal sound lovely you lucky ducks.

QueenofDreams · 22/07/2010 09:51

Just a quick hello from me. DS being such a nightmare lately - such hard work.

notso our maternity unit doesn't use them, but does advertis them. midwives always made nice comments about DS's colourful nappies drying round the house.

japhrimel I'm another one with an over 9lb baby. I was really nervous when the mw had a feel and said 'it's a good size baby in there' but he cam out fine. I think the only reason I tore was because they made me push him out really fast as he had meconium in his waters. I think if not for that I would have beenfine. I also was shocked when they said 9lb 8oz. I couldn't believe I'd actually pushed that out!

GreenGeekGirl · 22/07/2010 09:54

Morning all

Busy, busy few days ahead. It's exhausting even thinking about it really. I have the wedding in Wales this weekend, a big work deadline on Tuesday, my 20 week scan next Wednesday and packing up at both sets of parents' houses all before the move the following weekend. Yikes! So in short, I might not be around much.

Started reading Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method and it's pretty inspiring so far. I'm not keen on the writing style but the message, that birth doesn't have to be something to be afraid of, is actually very convincing. I'd hugely recommend it if your at all anxious about birth.

bakingkeepsmesane Aw I'm really hoping to do a self sufficientish foraging course soon

Lavitabellissima Thanks and good luck with your own wedding planning too. With Italian in-laws I'm sure you'll have a lot of help with it. Absolutely the best thing I did for my wedding was to give up pretty much all control over it (mainly to my mum, who was brilliant) and let everyone else do the stressing. It was a gorgeously serene day, rather than one where I was constantly thinking about all the things that weren't "perfect" (which seems to be the unavoidable result of being too involved in your own party planning). Also, how absolutely lovely that your babies can be there at your wedding. I think I would have preferred to have done things that way round.

japhrimel · 22/07/2010 10:24

GGG - good luck with your week! I had my BIL's wedding last weekend and am still shattered. I've got a big work thing coming up and I'm not sure how I'm going to cope if the poor sleep carries on!
