Funeral songs etc needed for our baby

Our beautiful baby boy died at 5 days old yesterday we are completely lost.

This is actually DH's first funeral and today also marks the due date of our other baby who I MMC end of last year.

We have a 2 year old son; I was considering using songs that he likes but DH said he doesn't want DS to associate his favourite things with grief.

Also what else do we need to consider? We will be contacting a funeral director today.

Listen to In Paradism by Gabriele Faure or The Lord Bless you and Keep you by John Rutter. My DD's sang the Goodall version of The Lord is my Shepherd for my relatives funeral. Tears in heaven is s good option for a secular song as it was written for his child.

Sincere condolences Thanks

We chose Brahma Lullaby for our twins funeral... I've always loved Brahms and this has such close connections with babies that it just seemed right. It's a beautiful piece of music when you actually stop and listen to it

Redcherrytree · 05/07/2019 20:07

twittlebee have you considered classical music. I find instrumental pieces both moving and comforting. I hope you find the right song for you and your family Flowers

So sorry for your loss

Elizabeth Mitchell does a beautiful version of 'You are my sunshine'

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Not a song, but we played Pachelbel's Canon in D at our daughters funeral. One reading, I Carry Your Heart With Me by E.E. Cummings.

Thinking of you. X

I’m so very sorry Twittlebee, words feel so ineffectual at these times. I wondered whether Love Me Tender might fit or You Have Been Loved by George Michael. I really liked what someone said about using children’s music from Disney films but it’s also about the sort of style and mood you both usually like, without necessarily using favourites. I send love and the warmest of wishes to you and I hope the day is all your beautiful son deserves.

So sorry for your loss I know first hand how hard it is Thanks. When I hear Gary Barlows let me go it reminds me of my daughter who died. He also wrote it in tribute to the child him
And his wife lost it's a fabulous song and not too dark xx

The acoustic version of Wings by Birdy is beautiful, its on my playlist for my funeral. At my dds funeral she came into the church to Shannon Saunders The Glow, and exited to the Disney parade theme music, she was the biggest Disney princess fan ever. Im so sorry that you find yourself in this unimaginable position, sending love and strength your way for now and the days ahead. Xx

@TwittleBee

I’m so so sorry for your terrible loss !

I was also a part of the sept 2019 chat at the beginning, didn’t post a lot bit kept up to date . Unfortunately i lost my beautiful baby girl at 25+5 she was born sleeping .

I feel your pain . It has been 3 1/2 weeks since we lost her and I had them play dancing in heaven and precious child ... it was the saddest day and you just feel so lost and empty , just try to stay strong, make sure you speak about your precious boy and contact the bereavement team of you need to vent . Feel free to pm me if you want.

Sending lots of love your way 💖

I am so very very sorry for the loss of your baby boy @TwittleBee. Thinking of you Flowers

I chose a poem called ‘I give you this one thought to keep’ for my Dad’s funeral. It has lovely words.

Roughday · 05/07/2019 21:03

I spent hours and days going through songs and poems ... when you hear the right one you will know 💖

AldiAisleOfTat · 05/07/2019 21:06

I'm so sorry for your loss.
For my little boy I had the snowdrop poem, and classical versions of nursery rhymes- you can find them on spotify.

I am so sorry for your loss. My son would have been 15, he was stillborn and absolutely beautiful. I just wanted you to know that the unbearable pain that you are feeling will pass. You will never forget your baby but the excruciating pain will pass. Be kind to yourselves, and seek help where you can - SANDS is really helpful. Sending hugs Flowers.

Blizy · 05/07/2019 21:30

I am so sorry to hear your precious baby boy is no longer with you.
At my daughters funeral we had,
Billy Joel lullaby. Johnny cash version of first time ever I saw your face and baby mine (dumbo song).

I wish you all the love and strength to get through these horrid days. 💙

AWhistlingWoman · 05/07/2019 21:30

Your choices are lovely Twittlebee. The Phil Collins song is perfect (I am also a Disney fan) and Birdy has such an beautiful voice.
