I am so sorry for your loss mummyof6. There are things you could do to help ease the pain of this time and give yourself meaningful mementoes. When my first child was born we were told she would not live past birth so my sister found a foot and hand casting set. She also gave us a "heart in their hand". This is a necklace where you push out a silver heart to place in your baby's hand while you keep the remaining necklace or keyring. Other parents I have spoken to have taken comfort from placing recently worn clothes in an airtight bag to keep your baby's smell. Also many hospitals will enable you to have time to give Oakley a farewell bath and to dress him. Take photos too if you can bear to. Although you may not want them now. they might be something you come to treasure in the future.

You are still a mummy of 6, he is still your and your dh's little boy and your children's baby brother.

I am so so sorry. We are all here. You will make it through tonight. Bit by bit, minute by minute. Don't think too far ahead. Stay here with us and remember him if it helps. Xxx

TamyQlass · 23/01/2017 23:31

So so sorry for you, I've been there too. 34 years ago my 2 day old beautiful daughter who'd spent her short life on a respirator was passed to my DH and I and we held her until she died in our arms. XXX

GrumpyOldTroll · 23/01/2017 23:31

I am so sorry. Flowers for your little Star.
I love the name Oakley.
There are no words. :(

Mummyof6tiredmuch · 23/01/2017 23:34

Thank you for everyone posting and with suggestions they are all wonderful . The hospital did he's footprints for me and I have kept my pyjama top I had on for he's smell . I never thought this would happen to us and our happy life has been shattered forever . Bad stuff happens to good people why ??? Oakley is adored by us and so prescious and he's gone . I don't understand it

Keep up the hot sweet tea, maybe try to eat something?
Could someone take Oakley's finger/hand/footprints for you?
Sending you strength xxxx

Jaguarana · 23/01/2017 23:38

Sorry to hear this Flowers

UnbornMortificado · 23/01/2017 23:38

Your right Mummy it isn't fair. We had a poem at my sons funeral.

An angel in the book of life wrote down my babies birth, then whispered as she shut the book too beautiful for earth.

That brought me a small bit of comfort I hope it does you, Jack died nearly two years ago. I still can't type or hear that poem without crying.

roseforarose · 23/01/2017 23:39

So so sorry for your loss, i don't have any words to comfort, you're in massive shock, so sorry Flowers

dailymaillazyjournos · 23/01/2017 23:45

Oh Mummyof6 I'm so sorry about your darling Oakley. I wish there was something to say or do to make this better. Huge hug and hand hold here and sending you love and strength. xx

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/01/2017 23:46

I can't imagine your pain, I am so so sorry.

But remember, babies know that they are loved. We think that because they are so little that they dont understand, but they do. They feel happy and safe when they are held and touched and stroked. Oakley knew you loved him, your love will always be with him, and his love with you xxx

Mummyof6tiredmuch · 23/01/2017 23:46

I can't eat the thought makes me gag . We ran out of milk an hour ago and there is no shops open now where we live so can't have a cuppa . Thank you for sharing that poem and I will be having a read and I'm so sorry for u .
If I didn't have my other babies I wouldn't want to live but I have to for them . I just want to be put out of my misery . My poor poor beautiful baby
