How do I tell my daughter?

I had a miscarriage on Monday and my Granny died on Monday night. We told my daughter at Christmas that I was pregnant and she has been soo excited. She was aware that my Granny was sick. I am having trouble coping at the moment and she keeps asking me loads of questions which is understandable. What do I say to her? She'll be devestated by both.

So sorry Paula, i dont know if i have anything usefull to add other then when my FIL died (8 days after having a stroke) i picked DS1 up from school (he knew grandad was poorly and i had explained that sometimes poorly people dont get better) I sat down with him and told him that grandad was very poorly and very tied and sometimes when people are tied and poorly god sends an angle to take them to heaven to be with jesus, where they will not be poorly or tied anymore, and although we will be sad and miss them they will be watching over us from heaven.

I really have no idea what you should say about the baby, but i think you must say something how ever much you and your DH want to spare her the pain of knowing she will know something is not right.
Thinking of you xxxx

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 16:43

Thanks KIMI

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 16:48

Sherbert, I feel that the punch at DD's parties is just not right without it.

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 16:49

mmmmmmmmmmmm
Hotdogs from a proper baseball stadium smothered in relish and american mustard.

That sounds heavenly!!!!

expatinscotland · 15/01/2007 16:50

Sherbert gives it that frothiness, too.

And friggin' club soda and tonic water w/o the aspartame in it.

expatinscotland · 15/01/2007 16:51

I miss relish. There were rumours that Branston's were going to bring it out, but no, it's all that chutney looking stuff.

uwila · 15/01/2007 16:53

Graham cracker for s/mores. I can't believe that wasn't on your list, Expat.

There are so many things I don't evenknow where to start. Just send Dominick's my way (or Kroger for you Souterner(s). Where are you from Paula?

OMG, don;t even get me started on black beans. Yes, miss them dearly. And get we get some proper FRESH corn tortillas to go with them?!?!?

Oh... I've just remembered Mission Burrito in Houston.... oh that would be so yummy.

expatinscotland · 15/01/2007 16:54

teddy grahams.

uwila · 15/01/2007 16:56

Oh, and Republicans. REALLY miss them!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 16:57

The first time I ever felt truely homesick was when I ordered a sandwich with pickles (which they had) and when I took a bite it was that nasty brown crap. I cried for 30 minutes like an idiot. I hate that stuff.

I hate the aspartame.

I'm from Florida, so it would be Publix.

I used to miss them but now I hav you UWILA.

We are taking my daughter camping in April and I have to get Graham crackers by then. I already have a huge box of hershey bars.

I also miss Clorox, the bleach here is useless on my whites.

Nilla wafers
Saltine crackers for soup
Iced tea bags

Sorry to hear your bad news Paula. I have no useful advice but lots of sympathy.

uwila · 15/01/2007 17:11

It's nice to be appreciated.

Have you got a Republican's abroad group near you? Not sure, but London might be the only UK chapter.

uwila · 15/01/2007 17:12

You could try Dublin, but you might find a different breed of "Republicans".

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 17:18

I wish there was something here in Belfast but there isn't I really miss being involved in the campaigns and all like I was at home. I especially hate it now that this next presidential election is going to be so fascinating. Are you involved?

OP posts:
uwila · 15/01/2007 17:21

No, and I haven't kept up much. Who are you going to support?

uwila · 15/01/2007 17:23

Gosh, now I'm thinking what a slacker I am. I really should get involved. There was a big election party at the US embassy in London for the last election. If they have another one, and I get invitations again, you could come down and we could go to it, then spend the night in a hotel in London.

paulaplumpbottom · 15/01/2007 17:28

[Grin] that sounds like a blast!!!! So far McCain is the only one I feel happy with. I'm hoping that someone I can feel passionate about throws their hat in. At the minute its slim pickins. What about you?
