My dad died this evening

He died peacefully with my mum beside him. He's only 64, but has been very ill with cancer for a long time, and the last few months in particular have been very tough.

So sorry to hear about your Dad.I think I remember he had Multiple Myeloma, which my Dad died from in July, so fully understand what those tough months must have been like. My Dad was diagnosed in March and died in July. It's such an awful disease, your Dad must have been very strong to survive it for 4 years. He sounds like a lovely man. Love and best wishes to you and your family.

Oh, roisin

64 is so young but how lucky that he took the early retirement (many men wouldn't have, I know) and had those 5 wonderful years for you all to remember.

Roisin - I am so sorry to read this. I was thinking of you over the weekend knowing that it would have been a difficult time for you but had no idea that your Dad was poorly. I'm sure your boys will have wonderful memories of him; he sounds like a fabulous Grandad. My Gran died in June and we have relived some wonderful times we had with her and try to remember her wicked sense of humour and the kindness and love she showed. It is hard but it helps. Thinking of you today.
