At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

A child who loses her parents is called an orphan, but there is no word to describe a parent who loses their child, probably because it is too terrible to contemplate. Amazing mum ? I'm so sorry you have lost your amazing child.
Blessed Be.

I am so very sorry. Your daughter was a most incredible girl to have impacted so many lives. She has certainly made a lasting impression on mine.

The grace, humility and dignity you have shown over the last week or so has left me in awe. No wonder Aillidh was such a special girl. My thoughts and love ae still with you and will remain so. I trust in whatever there may be that Aillidh is peaceful and rediscovering her strength to play, laugh and smile wherever she may be xxx

Expat, I truly think Ailidh is a special girl, in a special place. The pain must be unbearable for you, and you will be in my prayers, hoping you will find comfort. You were so strong for Ailidh throughout, and she knows how strong your love is.
It is incomprehensible, and so sad.

Book of Ecclesiastes - A Time For Everything

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboreth?
I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it. He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

I know that there can be no comfort Expat.
I'm so sorry that our thoughts and prayers were not enough.
You did all you could and now you can all have your rest and hopefully find peace.
