In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

So sorry for your great loss and thinking of you and your family. X

treedelivery · 08/07/2012 12:46

She is gone to be comfortable, to be agile, to feel warm sun and gentle winds, to run and jump and giggle and smile. She is in the only place that can heal her broken body.

I'm just so sorry that place isn't where you are Expat. There are no words for what you have lost.

shabbapinkfrog · 08/07/2012 12:46

Many people live for many years and dont make half the impact that your DD has. Many people live for many years and often people dont have a kind word to say about them because they have not been kind or loving to others.

Your precious girl has lived her short life the way we should all strive to live ours. Well done Aillidh.

Candles are still burning brightly here in Lancashire to honour and show love and respect for Aillidh. I hope that my boys were waiting for her - they will take great care of her for you. If you ever need to talk, scream, laugh or throw things at walls I am here to listen.

xxxxxxx

So sorry Expat, for such a tragic loss. The word doesnt do much I know, and the pain you must feel is inconceivable. I wish you peace and serenity eventually, and the solace of your memories x

Bossybritches22 · 08/07/2012 12:48

Your little girl put up a fight many bigger folks would have conceded long ago.

You are in the thoughts & prayers of the Bossy family.

She leaves a legacy of love from around the world.

When you feel ready, not yet a while I know, have a look at Aillidh's map- she touched the hearts of so many MN-ers.

Biggest of un- MN -netty hugs to you all xx

Vev · 08/07/2012 12:48

Wishing you and yours strength to help you through this dark time.

Aillidh touched the hearts and souls of many and brought about an awareness of the awfulness of leukaemia to thousands.

She fought so bravely and so sad it didn't end differently.

Whitamakafullo · 08/07/2012 12:49

I'm so so sorry expat. I too have been following your posts for years, and remember you talking about your beautiful daughter with her long legs and wee Scottish accent.

Words are inadequate at the moment. Much love and strength to you and your family xxx
