At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

We.are always ready to listen. Keep posting when you need to. (((Hugs)))

Thinking of you Expat, your pain is unimaginable to me. I wish I could bear some of it for you. I am listening and sending my love. x

PacificDogwood · 07/08/2012 22:05

I cannot bear to think of you clearing her room. How pathetic am I.

(hugs)

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 08/08/2012 01:35

It's completely fucking unfair Leigh - Aillidh should be here with you :(

There's not a day goes by when I don't think of you all - not that that really helps I know :( I wish I could take some of the grief for you.

Biggest Hugs and lots of strength xxx

Elephantscantdothetriathlon · 08/08/2012 22:14

Another one who cannot get through the day without thinking of you.

One month since she left to be with god. I am.so so sorry

StealthPolarBear · 08/08/2012 22:25

I am posting less and less on this thread as I'm starting to feel inappropriate. I'm sorry, it bears little relation to how often I think about A and you. There are still no words that will do, but I am praying for strength.

expatinscotland · 09/08/2012 01:18

Going to see her Friday and DD2 wants to have a picnic there with all A's fav foods - so A can eat her lunch.

Sad

JustFabulous · 09/08/2012 07:20

Oh, that is so heart breaking.

JUbilympiX · 09/08/2012 11:20

Expat, I know that thing about luck... we had a plethora of deaths - we'd be just starting to come out of the shock of one and there'd be another. It went on and on and on. At one point I began to think we were cursed (an MNer soon put me to rights on that one). Nothing equal to your loss though. I think of you every day.

xxx

expatinscotland · 09/08/2012 13:58

Got her cross with plaque today. We're going to set it at her grave tomorrow. Just to mark it till we think over what we want on a headstone for her.
