In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I shall raise a glass to her too Smile

PacificDogwood · 28/07/2012 22:12

expat, still thinking of Ailidh and you every day Sad.

Her battle is over; yours and your family's to learn to live with this huge gap in your lives is only just beginning.

I am sorry I never mentioned to you I was about to go on holiday and just 'disappeared', it just seemed inappropriate. Please, be in touch if I can help out in any way xx.

expatinscotland · 28/07/2012 22:36

Thank you, Pacific, for being there. I wish we could have met in better circumstances. The chemo. It just weakened her too much. Bless her consultant, gah, how she fought for Aillidh, always did.

She lasted a little over two days after she threw that clot.

OP posts:
BCBG · 28/07/2012 22:41

mummylin2495 · 28/07/2012 22:55

scottishmummy · 28/07/2012 23:11

23.25 will take a wee moment think of your lassie aillidh
and acknowledge her passing
and I hope in time it gets easier and you manage to balance it with the good stuff, the laughs. and theres the unfairness that illness brings, it is a harsh experience

ExitPursuedByABronzeBear · 28/07/2012 23:17

Having a quiet weep for Aillidh and you expat. You all fought so hard.
