In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

Was thinking of you this week. I am so sorry for your loss. Please take what comfort you can from a remote online community who have wished, hoped and willed that for the best outcome for you. I am so sorry we could not have made the miracle you needed.

Expat, I am so very sorry to hear about Aillidh, you all tried your hardest and your faith was inspirational.

I hope that the love that surrounded you all in the last few days continues to make itself felt - you are very much in mine and my families thoughts and prayers.

There is a quote that comforts me - Absence is to love as the wind is to a fire. It extinguishes the weak and fans the strong. Your love for A was so strong, so palpable, it can never disappear.
xx
