In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

Up late working and thinking of you all, expat. Wanting to help bear you up and carry you from a distance, as Northernlurker said.

PlasticFlamingo · 10/07/2012 05:46

Expat I wish i could write something that would take your pain away, but there isn't anything, is there?...Aillidh brought a global family to you, with her courage and hope. Please lean on us.
I have never prayed for anything or anyone as much and hard as I prayed for Aillidh. I'm so sorry she couldn't stay.
I will now turn my prayers to you, to hold you and support you through this very dark time. I will not forget beautiful Aillidh and I will not forget you. xx

Elephantscantdothemoonwalk · 10/07/2012 07:34

Morning, Expat. How are you all doing. The girls must be finding everything strange. May you have some beautiful memories of Aillidh today.

Sittinginthesun · 10/07/2012 08:34

mumat39 - that post really made me stop and think. I have always thought that some people have a way of drawing people together and making real changes to the world.

I think Aillidh was a very very special child. x

rarebreed · 10/07/2012 08:48

My sincere condolences expat.

I'm so sorry to read this expat, as a mother to a daughter similar in age I can't comprehend how you're feeling right now. Much love to you and yours at this horrendous time.

flowery · 10/07/2012 09:51

I'm so very sorry to hear this. I had been following Aillidh's progress over the last few weeks and Expat and family you are in my thoughts.

I lost my mum to leukaemia 32 years ago so donate fairly regularly to Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, but will make a donation in Aillidh's name also.

ExitPursuedByABear · 10/07/2012 09:57
