In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

Oh Expat. I've been thinking of you all during Aillidh's illness and am just so shocked she has gone. I've always noticed your posts on subjects large and small and enjoyed your wit and style. I hope the posts of others can bring you even a little of what you need in this sad, sad time. Much love from our family, x.

Oh Expat, there are no words :(. I've been following Aillidh's journey constantly this past week and was so saddened to see that she had lost her brave fight. You and your family are in my prayers.

God saw you getting weary,
When a cure was not to be.
He opened up his arms to you,
And whispered 'come to me'.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii · 09/07/2012 15:12

Our heart, your heart.

So sorry Expat. Sad

Oh, expat, I am so, so sorry to find this new today.

May Ailidh find the peace she so deserves after her long and valiant fight against this bastard of a disease.
And may you all grieve and support each other as a family and forever hold Ailidh in your heart as the much loved child and inspiration that she was.

I never actually met Ailidh, but she will stay with me for a long, long time.
As ever, much love and strength.

PD xx

Expat i havent been on here for ages but i along with my DD followed Aillidh,s story on FB, my DD would wake and ask how is she and she was so upset when i told her she had lost her fight, she has named one of her teddies after her.
There are so many people holding your hand and praying and hugging you expat, the outpouring of love towards your family and your beautiful girl is immense, i feel like we have put a protective blanket of love around you and your family and of course your darling girl, and we are all here for you,and i am so so sorry for your loss.xxxxx
