In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I'm so very sorry for your loss expat.

I'm struggling for any other words.

I hope that you know that there will always be someone here on MN for you, whatever time of the day or night, both now and weeks/months/years into the future, who would be willing to help with anything, or would feel blessed to chat about your beautiful and exuberant sweet Aillidh.

(Apologies if I've worded that badly).

Sending love to you and your family x

TigerFeet · 09/07/2012 13:07

Expat I can't even begin to imagine how you're feeling, but I hope that in the dark hours, days, months and years to come you will be able to feel our love and respect for you holding you up and supporting you. Aillidh was beautiful, brave and an inspiration to so many people and will not be forgotten. Lots of love to you and yours xx

Northernlurker · 09/07/2012 13:56

Expat - we'll pray you through the registration appointment. I'm at work but I will be praying and I'd ask everybody who reads this to do the same. Just hold Expat and her husband and family in your hearts and ask that they be given the strength to do this today.

rockinhippy · 09/07/2012 13:57

I'm so very sorry to read this, it breaks my heart to see your post :( my DD is the same age & my friend lost her similar age DD the same way a few years ago, so I know something of the cruelty life has thrown at you all & also know there is little I can say that will help - my thoughts & prayers are with you & your family, wishing you all the strength in the world to get through this & peace of mind knowing your beautiful girl is now free of pain

schobe · 09/07/2012 13:59

I'll do it Northern - will hold them in my thoughts all day. It's hard to think of much else. Just wish I could do more.

Annunziata · 09/07/2012 14:01

I pray that you have the strength to endure the coming days and weeks. I don't think the words are enough xxx
