In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

Expat Im so sorry for your loss.

I have been following Aillidh battle like so many others.
Sadly I lost my Lily to the same awful disease 12 years ago and there are just no words to make it better.

I just wanted to say we are all thinking of you and praying for you and your family.

Morning Expat. Have you had anything to eat recently? You may not feel like it but you and dh need to keep eating. Just a little - to give you some energy.

DH sat and cried last night at the injustice of Aillidh's death. We both routed for her with everything we have and are in awe of the strength and grace both you and she have displayed.

Much love.

notmydog · 09/07/2012 09:44

Haberdashery · 09/07/2012 09:49

So very very sorry and sad for all of you.

doggiemumma · 09/07/2012 09:50

You have been in my thoughts since i read your sad news, and im Angry for you and for all the other parents who have lost their children. It is just not fair, we do all that we can to keep our children safe, safe from strangers, from the roads, from injury and we do what we can to keep them healthy. Then there will be parents all over in the agony of having not been able to do that, through no fault of their own and im angry with God today. :(

I wish I had words to offer that would have some meaning or comfort, but I do not. I hope you and your family find some peace and a space where you can enjoy the memories of Aillidh.
