In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I am so very sorry for your terrible loss.

debka · 08/07/2012 19:54

Oh expat.

I'm so so sorry. She is with Jesus now.

We will light a candle to remember her tomorrow.

^May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May he make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May he lift his countenance towards you and give you peace.^

FoxyRevenger · 08/07/2012 20:12

Expat, I'm sorry that no words I can offer will ever be of any comfort.

I'm sorry that my tears are as nothing compared to what you've lost.

And I'm so, so sorry that your beautiful, wonderful daughter is gone from your life, for now.

Beautiful poem expat, I cannot begin to imagine your loss.

Mia as always, beautifully written, and full of love.

MrsGilbertBlythe · 08/07/2012 20:26

So very very sorry.
I lost my mum to AML last year.
I know that nothing compares to the loss of a child, but I will do all I can to fight this evil disease for the rest of my life, and when I am doing so I will think not only of my lovely mum, but also of your Ailidh and her beautiful smile.
I send you all my love and hope you find the strength to get through the times yet to come.
Your daughter will continue to shine brightly through you and her siblings.
Much much love. X x x

Birnamwood · 08/07/2012 20:27

NoComet · 08/07/2012 20:29

Expat I googled her picture, I shouldn't have done. She had deep auburn hair like my DD1. I just can't imagine your pain. So beautiful!

catinboots · 08/07/2012 20:29

Oh Expat. Sad

What a short life your Aillidh lived. But she touched so, so many hearts. She was a living miracle.

You were blessed, so blessed to have her in your life. But she was blessed tenfold to have a mamma like you and a family like yours.

So many children live very long lives without knowing an ounce of the love that you gave Aillidh.

May she rest in peace and may you live in peace xxx

So sorry for your loss. Such a beautiful sunny child - it is so unfair. Hoping that happy memories of Aillidh when she was well will eventually bring you some comfort.

FayKnights · 08/07/2012 20:31

Expat, there are no words, so terribly sorry for you and your family, thinking of you all. Xxx
