In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I am so sorry. You and your family, and your brave wee girl are in my thoughts.

I've not been on Mumsnet in months, but your story has brought me back. You're one of the people on here who have been an inspiration to me in the past, and I was horrified when I first heard what was happening. I am so so sorry for your loss. Much love. xx

eventhough I had to put it into google translate

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/07/2012 17:57

Wishing you all peace x

These first few days and weeks are the strangest. You still feel their presence, yet they are not with you. You don't really know what to feel and your mood swings from one emotion to another. Yet there is one constant. You want them back, and you would have them back at pretty much any cost.

I am sorry that you are walking this path. It is a shitty path to follow but there are people along the way who can help guide you if you so wish.

The bereaved parents thread on here has helped me a lot. Come join us or lurk when you are ready. It took me a long time to be able to call myself a bereaved parent and to reconcile that that was my fate. But I am starting to come through the other side, and you will too when you are ready.

Please feel free to PM me if you would like to chat.

Hold on in there x

I am so sorry Expat. Your beautiful Aillidh has touched so many people in her life. You are all in my prayers. May she rest in peace in the light of heaven. xxx

balletmoo · 08/07/2012 18:01

Expat, I just wanted to add my voice to the many already here...

I am so sorry for your loss. I know that there are no words to ease your pain, but know that your brave, beautiful daughter is a credit to you and will live on in the hearts and minds not only of those who knew her directly, but also of those of us here on MN and FB who have followed her story and who have been touched by her determination.

And a part of her will also live on in those who will be saved as a result of the number of new people signing up to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust after hearing of her plight.

Rest in peace dear child... You touched so many and your spirit travels onwards on a wave of love...
Xxx

QuickLookBusy · 08/07/2012 18:01

Oh Expat, you really won't believe she is gone for a long time, it won't seem possible or real. Please be very kind to yourself, you have been through so so much.xx

CurrySpice · 08/07/2012 18:03

Expat I know that nothing I can say will help ease your pain but goodness me my heart goes out to you and A's dad. I cannot imagine what you are going through but I hope you know that there are hundreds of other mothers out there, feeling for you and sending out their love and condolences to you xxx

maybetoday · 08/07/2012 18:04

Expat I'm so sorry. Aillidh and you and your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I lit a candle for her in church this morning. Your love and care of your beautiful daughter have been inspirational. I pray that God gives you strength and comfort in this difficult time.

Levantine · 08/07/2012 18:05
