In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I am so, so sorry to hear this. Heartbreaking. Thinking of you all.

Aillidh touched the hearts of many, not only on MN and Facebook but around the world. You and your family have humbled us with your brave fight for your beautiful daughter. You must all be exhausted and numb just now - take good care of yourselves and each other.

oh Expat. This i so unfair. I am sure Aillidh will do all she can to let you know she is fine. She will always be with you - but that doesn't help when you just want to gather her in your arms. Take care of yourself my lovely x

Oh Expat, you and Aillidh have been unfailingly in my thoughts and prayers for the last few weeks, and will continue to be. I can't imagine how you are feeling, and I don't imagine it will help at all now, but maybe later to know that you were not and are not alone, and your little girl was so brave, she inspired me and so so many on here and beyond.
