At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

Oh expat what a cruel cruel world. So many have held their breathes and prayed hard, I'm so sorry that she had to go. No parent should ever have to see their child suffer and experience their loss. My heart goes out to you all, I'm so very very sorry xx

Expat
I have been following Aillidhs long battle and have been, as so many others, praying thinking of you all for the last few days...
I have no words to express my deep and heartfelt sorrow at the loss of little girl I never knew...I was crying in bed last night after the terribly sad FB updates.
Your beautiful girl has touched so many, her fight has been hard and her bravery amazing.
you must be so proud.
Thank you for sharing Aillidh with us.We will never forget her
X

landofsoapandglory · 08/07/2012 16:41

Expat, my family and I are so very, very sorry for your loss. I have never before been as affected by the death of someone I did 't know.

I followed Aillidh's story on Fb, as well as on MN. She was a beautiful little girl, with sparkly eyes and a beaming smile. She inspired so many people and because of her many, many people signed up to be bone marrow donors. Your love for Aillidh shone through in the posts you wrote on Fb. My tears are futile, but they have fallen and my heart is breaking for you and your family.

Wishing you lots of love and strength. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rest in Peace beautiful Aillidhxxx
