At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

So so sorry, been camping this weekend and just got back turned laptop on. Just couldnt believe it, she was still rallying on Friday when l last looked.
She tried so so hard to stay with you and l dont blame her - you are such an inspiring wonderful family. It may not seem like it now but you will get through this together and your little girl will l believe find a way of letting you know she is still around you.

" 'WHO DARED PLUCK THIS FLOWER?' said the gardener.

'I DID' said the Master

and the gardener fell silent."

Expat - your faith has inspired us and your loving fight for your daughter has amazed us. Thank you for letting us try to offer you some support through this awful time. I know Aillidh is home safe with Our Father but we want her here with you so that hurts so very much. You will be in my prayers today and in the days to come.

I 'know' you from many threads of old. My heart goes out to you and I wish you strength to get through this somehow. As we say in Turkish, I wish you calm to your mind.

Dearest Expat, family, friends and those who were there with darling A during her last few moments.

I am so very sorry that your beautiful daughter finally lost her fight to such a cruel and twisted illness after battling so very, very hard. No words can take away the hurt, the pain and utter despair of losing a child.

The crushing guilt, the gravity of her going is immense. You gave her everything that you could Expat, everything.

Much love to you sweetheart xx

ExitPursuedByABear · 08/07/2012 16:11
