At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

I am so, so sorry for your loss expat.

There are no words adequate for such a tragedy but know that you and your family are in the thoughts and prayers of so many.

Wishing you all the strength you need.

LtEveDallas · 08/07/2012 14:47

So sad to wake to the terrible news this morning. Expat, I cannot imagine how you must be feeling. I am so very sorry that Aillidh is lost. But she lives on in your hearts, and in the hearts of the friends that have followed her story.

You, Aillidh and the rest of her family are an inspiration. You never gave up and your strength is legendary.

The day may be grayer, but the stars will shine more brightly tonight with Aillidh leading the way.

Xx

This is utterly devastating, expat, and I am so very, very sorry you have lost your amazing Allidh to this terrible illness. She was so gorgeous looking and from your posts on mumsnet she always sounded such a little character. I remember you posting about how excited she was about her new pink croc shoes, about 6 years ago, and thinking how sweet she sounded. I have been thinking about her and you and Andrew and your other children so much in recent weeks and I know I will continue to do so. She will not be forgotten.

bamboostalks · 08/07/2012 14:55
