In memory of our lovely Aillidh

At 11.25 last night, our beautiful, 9-year-old daughter died of complications from treatment for acute myeloid leukaemia, she went into respiratory failure after contracting human metapneumo virus following conditioning chemotherapy for stem cell transplant.

For many days, she lingered on a ventilator. But last night, she developed a pneumothorax and rapidly deteriorated.

She died within seconds of the ventilator being taken off.

I can't believe she's gone, or how broken her long body looked.

There are no words that I can offer to make any difference.

I feel for you and all your family at this time Expat.

Take comfort in each other and remember what a beautiful loving daughter Aillidh is

hattifattner · 08/07/2012 13:24

expat, as a family of faith, please hold in your heart the thought that hundreds of people held your baby up to God. It is certain that she is with Him now.

It is also certain that her fight inspired many and drew many back to Him. Her life had a purpose and meaning outside of her loving family. And now also there are people on the bone marrow donor list that otherwise would not have signed up.

Tiredmumno1 · 08/07/2012 13:25

Be happy and remember. Remember the love, smiles and happiness she brought and carried with her on her incredible journey. Her strength and yours Leigh are an inspiration to many who may never truly 'know' or meet you.

May the Lord bless you and keep you Aillidh.

All my love and condolences to you and your beautiful family. I was humbled by your strength through this ordeal and the strength of your little Aillidh as well. You raised a girl as brave and determined as yourself and she is a testament to your love. I wish peace for you in the knowledge that you were a rock for your little girl when she needed you most. May your faith carry you through the times ahead.
