My newborn girl is going to die, not sure what to do now.

I gave birth to our little girl yesterday at 1.15pm. They told almost straight away they thought she had Edward's Syndrome. Now they think her brain just didn't develop. Noone can tell us how long she will be with us, nobody knows.

My two dds are 6 and 4 and were so excited about their baby sister. They are coming to meet her later. How can I tell them she will die?

As she is breathing unaided and tube feeding, they are caring for her in SCBU, but I have said if they can't do anything, I want to bring her home to spend her last time. I wish we knew how long she had.

I think my heart is breaking.

Wow
Not been on mn recently so just saw this. Read the thread with tears running down my cheeks. Reached the important post and just howled and did a little dance. My children think I am mad.

I am so glad the outlook isn't what you had been led to believe. I too had a prem, she was given 5% chance of survival on her first day and is now sat behind me and you wouldn't know.

We're sending your beuatiful Beatrice that same fighting strength

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 20/09/2011 15:48

Oh honey I am so pleased for you! I haven't posted much on here but have been thinking about you loads. They thought my DS had Edwards Syndrome when he was born and it was a very scary time waiting for the results. They got it wrong with him too! So, so pleased for you. Hope she's out of hospital very very soon. ((hugs))
