doctor appt friday for DS (sicky, off-balance, bad ears)

1000 replies

EdgarAleNPie · 23/02/2011 18:15

right - he's had an anti-biotic ear spray for two weeks. he has been particularly sick the past week so its doing bugger all

my plan for friday is to ask

-for heavy oral anti-bs to realy kick the infection (if it is bacterial, as if its in the inner ear an exterior spray won't touch it).
-for a referral to a paediatrician (which i can always cancel if he gets better before it coes through)

  • anti-emetics/ anti nausea pills? he's been keeping very little food down. quite thin.

how does that sound for a plan?

he already saw audiology, they said 'yes, there's fluid in his ear.' is there any point in seeing them again?

He's now been down with this since November. Gone from running and kicking a ball to staggering around the house and falling over. can't manage more than a few yards without support.

ok, any thoughts?

I'm sat here in pieces so heaven only knows how you are feeling. Nothing any of us can say or do can take the hurt away but if we could we would share it.

abeautifulbutterfly · 19/03/2011 17:16

You Edgars are amazing people. Just read Mr Edgar's post and the post about the dog. What a lucky dog and what lucky little girls you have. May you all bring each other much comfort over the time ahead of you.
Still thinking of you.x

Bumperlicioso · 19/03/2011 17:17

Edgar and mredgar, I am astounded by the level of dignity with which you have both posted on these thread. You are a credit to your son and I bet he was a credit to you. dh and I can't stop thinking about you. Even though we don't 'know' you, the thought that anyone is going through this is very sad.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you x

can't stop thinking of edgar and her family and her precious little boy. have already written here and on another thread but wanted to say again how very very sorry i am and that you are in my thoughts.

ednurse · 19/03/2011 18:18

To you both and to your family and friends, I am so sorry for your loss.

I am sat here in tears. I was the first to reply to this thread. Of course I immediately thought 'glue ear' was your poor DS's problem, as this is how it reads on 'paper'. When I cam back here and found out otherwise I was shocked. It was all I could think about for a while. I felt guilty I had 'shrugged it off'. I know I am not at work..I cannot see 'the patient'. It's so hard when people ask for advice on here, what else can you suggest?? What it reads on paper is so different to how the person is in front of you. But this isn't about how I feel.

Wish you all the strength in the world to get through this, I know you will. xxx
