So what's the earliest anyone's DC has started walking?

....just wondering really. DH and I were discussing this earlier and we really had no idea.

What's the youngest that anybody's child has taken their first steps?

(and no, this isn't some sly way of telling you that my DD walked early. She didn't let go of my hand until 16 months. Well we are a bit of a lazy family.....)

Does it mean they are going to be really bright if they walk early then ?????

When you see an adult walking down the street do you find yourself commenting on the way they walk and decide they must have been a late walker because they do it slightly differently????????

DD1 did bugger all until she was about 10 mths and finally walked unaided at 16 mths. DD2 was even lazier, she didn't walk until 18mths.

DS1, middle child, rolled over from birth (so he could sleep on his face), crawled at 5mths, cruised at 9mths, walked unaided at 11mths. Was up & down the 5ft high slide at about 13mths. He could do a 2 mile dog walk at 15mths when DD2 was born. Nutter.

2 of mine walked at 9 months

Although I count walking as walking unaided and taking more than a couple of steps, that is walking across a room.
Some people count a couple of shaky steps alone as walking.
It's not though!

ds crawled at three months and walked at 7 - and he was prem. it was horrid. he was tiny and manic and never slept or ate. never videoed him as i was so tired and unhappy. now at 5 is a very active nutter. and i am still tired though no longer unhappy!

dd 10 months
ds1 12 months
ds2 currently trying his darndest at 9 months and injuring himself daily

when i was in labour in march i read an article in The Sun (well, i WAS in labour ) which showed a 6 month baby walking perfectly unaided... but it did look bizarre to see one so young toddling around...

... i'd feel a bit cheated out of their babyhood

dd1 walked at 10 months - she was tiny and also a very good speaker, so it really looked freaky.

dd3 on the other hand was 21 months

Ds was cruising from 5 months - early walker? No. 7 months of watching and waiting before he took his first unsupported steps at 12 months. Was very frustrating (for me, he was fine with it)
