DD(age 9)got a wonderful report this week and it just made me and her dad feel so proud. She has worked really hard and done well in her exams and had lovely comments from all her teachers. Plus her form teacher asked if he could keep her books for next year to show at open days etc! She loves school - long may it continue.

ThomCat · 14/07/2003 12:54

Bossanove - that's wonderful, hope you spoil her rotten!

ThomCat · 18/07/2003 13:37

I've posted this on the special needs thread but thought it should be here as it's not really related to special needs - just me being prund of my angel... I thought she deserved to have her praises sung after me feeling a bit sorry for myself after being told we had to get her in a standing frame as she won't put her feet on the floor, but who cares about that not me, not today. I want to tell you all that......

I'm proud of the way everyone catches her eye when we're out and gives her a massive smile.
I'm bursting with pride at the 3 or 4 comments I've received from people who say much the same as this lady: "Excuse me, hope you don't mind me saying but I was feeling a bit blue today and the smile your little girl just gave me has made me feel so much better" Then she squeezed my arm and walked off! How lovely.
I'm proud of the way she reaches out to people to be held by them even though she's never seen them before in her life
I'm proud of the way she laughs at the silliest and smallest things.
I'm proud of the way she kisses her spoonful of wheetabix before eating it
I'm proud to be her mum.

wickedstepmother · 18/07/2003 13:48

Aw, Thomcat. That post brought tears to my eyes

sykes · 18/07/2003 14:28

lou33 · 18/07/2003 14:32

boyandgirl · 18/07/2003 14:33

Thomcat, I think you really summed up the joy of being a parent. Bless you.

ThomCat · 18/07/2003 14:41

God I bloody love Mumsnet! Don't know what's up with me today, feel incredibly happy and chilled and generally lovely. All of you and your lovley comments in reference to my post have added to that, so thanks. It's so nice when we're all lovely to each other - such a great feeling. Gonna go and have a cup of tea so I can savour it all a bit longer.

Tissy · 18/07/2003 14:46

ThomCat · 18/07/2003 15:06

Ha haaaaaaa, what's up with us soppy lot, why are we all crying (me included)??!!!
Now stop the tears and lets here more about our great kids!

lou33 · 18/07/2003 15:30

Particularly like the kissing weetabix bit .

ThomCat · 18/07/2003 15:45

I have to say that is very cute Lou yes and makes me laugh every time. She's also got some mad laugh going on when she sees a banana, a bit of a 'carry on' or is it only fools and horrses trigger like laugh, one of the 2, but v funny.

florenceuk · 18/07/2003 16:34

She sounds lovely - a real character. Love the kissing Weetabix stuff - so cute!

Rhubarb · 18/07/2003 21:38

Sorry Thomcat, but you deserve some credit here too! Your little girl must be absolutely surrounded by love to be able to pass it on to others so easily! She sounds fantastic, and so do you! Blooming well done girl, you've made us all proud!
(And you've cheered me up when I was feeling blue too!)

Bossanova · 18/07/2003 21:57

Thomcat your dd sounds like a ray of sunshine. It's lovely when strangers compliment you on your children isn't it? Makes the bad moments seem not so bad. Love the Weetabix bit.

Loobie · 18/07/2003 22:12

Last night while i was sitting quietly on the p.c my insomniac autistic son turned from his t.v and announced to me "mummy im really happy here with you",this from a kid who just doesnt do emotions. This really was a boost considering it is so hard to tell how he feels over the separation from myself and his dad.

Bossanova · 18/07/2003 22:18

It's nice to know that the love gets through to them no matter what, isn't it Loobie?

lou33 · 18/07/2003 22:32

Loobie it must have been a wonderful moment.

Loobie · 18/07/2003 22:39

yes it really made my heart swell to know for sure that he was actually happy with life,my little munchy.

lou33 · 18/07/2003 23:02

ThomCat · 21/07/2003 09:57

Awww Loobie, that is SO lovely, I'm so pleased for you, bless his little heart.

ThomCat · 21/07/2003 10:21

I know I was only singing Lotties praises on Friday, but sorry I've just got to do it again, I can't stop myself!
We went to the Lanesborough Hotel on Hyde Park Corner yesterday for tea for my Mums b.day. She was incredibly well behaved and sat eating her finger sarnies, waving to people and being just generally fab! It was when we were leaving that my 'proud' moment happened though - we were standing in the entrance saying bye and she clocked the doorman in his bowler hat and just lunged out of my arms to be held by him. This old boy was so happy and you could tell he was all chuffed. he gave her a kiss on the check and she turned and wrapped her arms round his neck and then planted a kiss right back on him! Anyway she charmed him so much my Mum ended up getting a discount on a room for the night next weekend, a bottle of champagne and he said he'd sort the car out for them so they didn't have to worry, oh and we all got a golf umbrella! All thanks to my little girl who just loves everyone, even complete strangers!! I promise not to bore you anymore, well not for the rest of the week anyway!

sis · 21/07/2003 11:09

Oh ThomCat, that is brilliant! she sounds really lovely
