Wonderful news Jimjams .

eidsvold · 01/04/2003 06:57

Jims jams that is brilliant.

Can I just say how proud I am of my dd. She is eight months old today and had her hearing test yesterday. She passed with flying colours. She also took a wooden block from the health visitor and transferedit from one hand to the other.

soyabean · 01/04/2003 23:24

Bugsy and Jimjams, have just found this thread and seen yr postings re 3 1/2 yr olds and poos. Congratulations to all, and I would like to include my ds (3 3/4) who has recently achieved this milestone too and there has been no turning back. I did write about it on another thread but wanted to join in with your celebrations! Has it changed your boys' behaviour in any other ways? We reckon ours has been much more settled and had fewer tantrums, many of which I think were connected to holding on and needing a poo and not being able to sit still or concentrate on eating. Lots of smarties helped us through the first week but it all just seems to be normal for him now.

myalias · 02/04/2003 08:07

My beautiful 7 year old ds, who has special needs, has just read 2 oxford learning tree books to me and his younger brother. I'm so proud of him as we thought he may have dyslexia. The most wonderful thing about him learning to read is that he actually got his books and started reading without me having to ask him to do so.

Great news Soyabean! DS is delighted with himself and insists on telling anyone who'll listen. And yes, it has certainly ended those uncomfortable dancing sessions that he'd do

Jimjams · 03/04/2003 12:22

I wouldn't say we've cracked the problme soyabean- but that's autism for you. He did do a poo and wee on the toilet again yesterday- but apart from that he's back to pooing on the floor!

We'll get there- he's getting it all pecsed out next week (using pictures to explain what to do).

On Tuesady, my sister came round for dinner. She is called Kat. Dh asked ds who she was, and he said 'Kat' clear as day. I was so chuffed, as it obvious that his memory is allowing him to store things now. My sister was really chuffed too! Good job her name isn't Esmerelda or Penelope though!

susanmt · 22/04/2003 09:11

My big girl (aged 3 and 2 months) is away out to nursery for the first time this morning. Her and Daddy went away in the car and she waved and waved - can't beleive she's the little thing I gave birth to, she seems so grown up!

winnie1 · 22/04/2003 09:26

susanmt, I know what you mean, how time flies... I am so proud of our little boy because he was 2.5 at the weekend and is saying 'Thank you' now...

Demented · 22/04/2003 23:08

These are lovely.

I have been convinced my DS2 has been saying a few words for the last few weeks (10 1/2 months now) and the last couple of days I have been more certain. He says "nanana" when he sees a banana, "ta" when you give him something or he wants something and "at" everytime he sees the cat, says "dada" and sometimes "muma", especially if he wants a feed. I am very proud as DS1 had a language delay/problem.

Janeway · 24/04/2003 09:13

last night ds (13 months) lead me by the finger out of nursery (from playgound through his room and all the way out), when we got home, he went into the livingroom, came back collected me by the finger and took me to the telly to turn it on (time for the Fimbles) 10 minutes later he toddled off to the kitchen, came back and collected his daddy and took him to the highchair (read "dinner time" ). Then during bedtime stories he managed to point to Tigger and Pooh.

He's not done any of these before and is suddenly progressing so fast - he's picking up new words most days (but doesn't say them yet); yesterdays one was 'puppy' for his new soft toy (guess who's just bought loads of Andrex)

Tissy · 24/04/2003 09:17

My dd (15 months)sang "Baa Baa Black Sheep" yesterday, well actually " Baa Baa Aah Aah",but she got the tune right

sis · 24/04/2003 20:08

I'm so proud of myself today - I have just done my first ever link (on the flyscreen thread) and also, on the tube today, I finally mustered up the courage to ask the two other men on the three person seat to just move up a bit as I was perched right on the edge (they, of course, had their legs in the traditional male commuter position!) and it worked! - both the request on the tube and the link.

Had to add this, dd is growing up so quickly!

We were in John Lewis yesterday having lunch and dd pointed to the woman next to us who was discreetly breastfeeding a tiny baby and said, "look, baby drink"

a sentence

and congratulations to sis on her link, unfortunately our local Lakeland didn't have any in stock!

Meanmum · 28/04/2003 14:04

Congrats Tissy. It's special moments like this that make all the hard days vanish (or nearly).

Chinchilla · 29/04/2003 20:01

Yesterday, my ds pointed at a star, and said 'tar'. I am so proud of him, and it was funny watching his pleased reaction to my praise.

Claireandrich · 29/04/2003 20:08

DD (12 months) has had a recent obsession with chickens so we bought her a farm book with pictures in them. She loves it and looks at it all the time. Today we wantched a program and chickens came up. She got all excited calling out 'chick chick' and tryng to say 'cockadoo' for the cockerel noise. It was so sweet!!!!

slug · 30/04/2003 11:04

I took the sluglet to the seaside for the first time in her life. She stood, at the water's edge, transfixed. Finally she waved her arm and announced "Baa" (bath). I'm soooo proud at her amking the connection.

eidsvold · 30/04/2003 19:16

Great to read all these achievements of our children.

One to add... my Dd ate some lumpy food today - might not sound like much of an achievement but for her it is.. we have had lots of tries and none successful. She also managed to feed herself finger food ( a breadstick) I am sure more went in her hair than her mouth but I don't care!!

chatee · 30/04/2003 21:29

my first posting on this thread but i just want the whole world to know how proud i am of my dd aged 2.8 months, she has had a rough start to say the least(like many of the dd's and ds's on the special needs thread)
We have recently been toilet/potty training dd and are currently taking her every 75 mins but twice today she has asked.."Mummy i need a wee" and doing a jiggle in her seat(just like normal kids)only first time we were in the middle of woolies(and upstairs with only a service lift which you have to wait for a member of staff to accompany you down)luckily the staff member took one look at dd and my face and took pity and allowed her to use the staff toilet.i told dd hold on one minute and well done for asking and she did-no accidents yippee.
second time ws on the way home so i said can you wait till we are home and she said "no just stop the car now" so how embarrasing stopped the car on quite a busy road and let her wee down a grid,as we got home the phone was ringing -it was Gran and she promptly told her
"i wee on hole in road"
Just re reading this and not quite sure should it be here or on the bad mothers thread??
I am so proud of her...fingers crossed we've cracked it!

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 21:31

Chatee - wonderful news. I can see the smile on your face now as you are thinking about it. Was Gran as pleased as you and your daughter???

chatee · 30/04/2003 21:35

no not quite but who cares!
