amusing toddler generated names for things

When ds was about 20m he started referring to his blankie as 'fwottie'. I checked many times with him, 'do you mean froggy?'but no, it is definitely fwottie. The blankie has a little elephant on it and he can say elephant so I can only conclude he's just created his own name for it. It makes me chuckle and I'd love to hear your other random toddler names for stuff.

DD (2) points to the light switch & says "yellow sparkles" when she wants the light on Grin.

ThreeBecameFour · 03/12/2013 13:27

This will no doubt out me but my dd calls breast pads boobie pancakes....

MiaSparrow · 03/12/2013 16:21

Another one for meyulk (milk) here.

Also...

Looloo (toilet)
Ooflute (elephant - now grown out of, sadly. No, Mummy, it's an elephant.)
A piggy front - when I'm carrying DD frontwards, obvs.
Upside up - as opposed to upside down
M'seum (museum)
"it's only retend"
Wiggly worms for noodles, which she always asks for loudly at the Thai Blush

Loads more I can't think of, but current favourite: Naner flop (banana skin) Grin

MiaSparrow · 03/12/2013 16:22

Oh and "on that Donald had a farm..."

KatoPotatoHoHo · 03/12/2013 16:25

DS (3.8) has informed us that the little slips of paper you get inside a Kinder egg is called a 'Flanger'

KatoPotatoHoHo · 03/12/2013 16:25

Love BETFUS!

sparkleshine · 04/12/2013 14:03

Another 'Farmer Christmas' for my nearly 4 year old
The remote control is just the 'mote'
Fireman Sam is 'fire sam' probably cause it's a fire engine or fire station.

My brother still says renember instead of remember. I used to call an umberella an olyolyar or something like that. Not sure how it would be spelt.

LittleMilla · 04/12/2013 14:09

We have fatsumas which has stuck for satsumas.

When I was little (about 3) my Dad was in the bath with me & I pointed to his...parts & asked, "Daddy, is that your Cooking Doodle?"

My little girl is still too tiny for talking (just turned 1 this week) but I'm looking forward to the funny names for things so much! My parents still use the words I used when I was little:

Cardideen - cardigan
Raderee - radiator
Ak - anorak
Furnished - finished

PuppyMonkey · 04/12/2013 16:16

DD1 used to call apricots "cot cots."

DD2 couldn't say DD1's name very well - it's Maddie - so for some reason from an early age called her "Babboo." We have no idea why, but we liked it.

newmum001 · 04/12/2013 16:57

When dd was 1 she called water "dordy" also calls her nose a "snitch" we all use that one now including my mum and sister. None of us ever have an itch nose we all have itchy snitches. I wish I'd written them down there were so many funny ones.

HaveToWearHeels · 04/12/2013 17:02

Dinner gloves = oven mits
Flingo = flamingo
ostahorse = Obsticle course

Sometimesiwonder · 04/12/2013 17:02

DD decided her name was Jidgy.

She used to go up to other little kids and announce 'I Jidgy'. We still call her Jidge sometimes (she's nearly 11)

highlandbird · 04/12/2013 18:55

Love these Grin

In our house we have poo-cackies for pancakes...in fact DS1 can say pancakes now but the word has stuck with us.
Also for land rover we have a few extra v's added in making it a land rovovover!
Oh and a wee rabbit night light is named Siggle Meh.....no idea why but it is very cute Wink
Am trying to remember to write them all down before we forget them forever Sad

highlandbird · 04/12/2013 18:58

Keep remembering more!

When I'm feeding DS2 boobies have become beeboos, that one has stuck forever now I think!!

Kiwiinkits · 05/12/2013 21:50

Kiwiinkits · 05/12/2013 21:50

We have:

'Chumps' for chalks
'Giggles' for crayons
'Nannys' for raisins
'Beebees' for tv
'Songs' for guitar.

I think giggles and nannys may stick Smile.

DoveOfPeace · 27/02/2015 22:48

I know this is an old thread, but it made me smile Smile

Shil0846 · 27/02/2015 22:59

DS, 2, calls his vitamins drops "hopes wides" (i.e open wide).

funnylittlekaty · 27/02/2015 23:33

Squirrel was guru
Cat = tac
Vanilla = valliner
