When ds was about 20m he started referring to his blankie as 'fwottie'. I checked many times with him, 'do you mean froggy?'but no, it is definitely fwottie. The blankie has a little elephant on it and he can say elephant so I can only conclude he's just created his own name for it. It makes me chuckle and I'd love to hear your other random toddler names for stuff.

DS(5) got a Meccano for Christmas, and he calls the alan key 'the salven crusty'. Don't know why but it sounds much better.

Ems1812 · 27/02/2015 23:53

My DS is a bit little for much talking but I can still remember my younger brother having some cute ones!

Moat neh - Milk
Fuffall Mites - Football Pants
Snoke- Snow

He would also quite often announce that he was going to go & "shit" (sit) in the bath!

snuffykins · 27/02/2015 23:58

A hippopotamus is still known as a popamumps in our house. And he's almost 13 now!

SillyPops · 28/02/2015 00:16

Pickle = freckle
Humpkin = pumpkin
Wizzy = t.v
Odges = sausages
Frooper = the cold aisle of supermarkets (ie- can you see any strawberries DS? Yes, in the frooper!)

Mouthfulofquiz · 28/02/2015 00:23

Juicebummer = cucumber!

Strawberriez · 28/02/2015 00:42

DD (4) calls her dressing gown dit dits and has for as long as I can remember. She has never actually worn it, just likes to carry it around everywhere since she got it about 3 years ago Grin!

FamiliesShareGerms · 28/02/2015 01:38

Big toes are "thumb toes" here

ch1134 · 28/02/2015 06:58

When my sister was little she looked out the window while eating breakfast and shouted 'look everyone, a waggle! '. It was a rat!

Snozberry · 28/02/2015 07:23

DD 20mo counts to three like "one, doo, weeeeee" I think because a count to three usually ends in something fun.

TheBookofRuth · 28/02/2015 07:26

DD (3) knows and understands the word "pyjamas", but prefers her own version - jamanas and jameenis. Your jamanas are your bottoms and jameenis are the top.

TheBookofRuth · 28/02/2015 07:29

Oh, and a recent attempt to count past 20 went "...nineteen, twenty, onety, twoty, threety..."

Cumberlover76 · 28/02/2015 07:43

DD likes flingos (flamingo) not so different but very cute.

LifeOfBriony · 28/02/2015 07:45

Windscreepers = windscreen wipers; think of the noise they make...

And the corkscrew is known as the Tinky Winky!

Lagoonablue · 28/02/2015 07:47

Om cooper. This is a computer according to my not so toddler 4 year old.

Also croco cowell. Crocodile apparently.

Tbf he is young for his age and has a bit of a language delay.

dreamcometrue · 28/02/2015 08:23

If things are crinkly or bumpy (like a ribbon on a cushion. He calls it brinkly. We use this word too!
He also shouts "look at that dick! " (stick)

Guin1 · 28/02/2015 08:48

DS also used to pronounce "st" as "d", so would run across the park shouting that he had a "big, long dick". Or a "little, bendy dick". Etc.

When he first started understanding numbers, he could count "one, two" then anything else was "more two".

My favourites, which we still use, are tappytippa (caterpillar) and benty bunty (belly button).

slightlyconfused85 · 28/02/2015 20:35

Dd called grapes gaboos when she was a little toddler. Now she is perfectly able to say grapes but the whole family says gaboos anyway...

slightlyconfused85 · 28/02/2015 20:36

She also calls a hat a haton and a bib a bibon. She will not be corrected

UsernameAlreadyInUse · 28/02/2015 20:38

DS1 recently came out with diggamiggafyer for dehumidifier. That's now the official term in our house.

MrsN1984 · 01/03/2015 16:07

I used to call a calculator an 'ooh-are-chew' lol

RueDeWakening · 01/03/2015 16:11

My sister used to call bits of sock fluff between her toes, "bunglies". And she used to go "bungly hunting" Grin

GooseEnthusiast · 01/03/2015 16:20

In our house unicorns are Unicles and dressing gowns are rain coats Grin

PandasRock · 01/03/2015 16:36

We have 'up sleeve' and 'down sleeve' tshirts instead of long/short sleeves.

The dc all wear jamamas instead of pyjamas.

They also all wear 'coat-ons' and 'hat-ons' and of course, glubs.

They used to have dressing grounds, but I think that fell out of use.

They all enjoy rollerscoaters, but don't like it when the drops/hills are too steef.

Best of all (mostly because i cannot work out where it came from) ds has invented a new class of bird - the 'rink'. Originally a shortening of flamingo, he now knows (and can say perfectly) the proper name, but in a wildlife book will identify (as well as using names, so eg would say 'that's a flamingo, it's a rink' much like he might say 'that's a rose, it's a flower') flamingoes, ostriches and swans as 'rinks'. He is as yet undecided about geese, but ducks are definitely not 'rinks'.

NestlingDolls · 02/03/2015 22:27

Ahh, these are lovely Smile

Fishandjam · 02/03/2015 22:32

DD calls a caterpillar a "pickerpackler". Nappies are "mackies" (which I've now picked up, inadvertently!)
