My 2 year old dd is starting to recognise that boys have 'willies' and girls don't. What do I tell her girls have? 'Fanny' I don't like, and other than that. I haven't got any ideas. Anyone any suggestions?

Gotcha hunker...but we can have a flower of our own, no?!

Hattie05 · 21/04/2006 21:49

I don't find it offensive or derogatory it just makes me cringe. I feel sorry for people who have Aunt Fanny's Grin

hunkermunker · 21/04/2006 21:50

It's not a vagina though. That's just one bit of it.

(How did I take up Harpsi's usual role on this thread?!)

spidermama · 21/04/2006 21:50

Of course Americans call their bums their fannies so there's potential for trans Atlantic comedy too.

hunkermunker · 21/04/2006 21:50

Er...yes...want to smell my flower? One I grew in the garden, you understand...!

spidermama · 21/04/2006 21:51

It has got to be said Hunker. She'll be proud of you.

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 21:51

I think we should reclaim the word cunt.

spidermama · 21/04/2006 21:53

I do too GS but I think it'll be too radical.
We're hainvg enough trouble with 'fanny' here. Let's tip toe lightly. Grin

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 21:54

I just want to be the first to be tattled on via the new link Grin

Rodeo · 21/04/2006 21:56

Greensleeves Grin Germaine Greer woud be v. proud of you!

Never liked the word until I heard her talk about it on that Balderdash & Piffle programme, now I want to use it all the time!

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2006 22:00

Greeny Shock

I am telling on you for not toeing the party line. It's a VULVA, remember?

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 22:02

Yeah, but she's not here Grin

cunty-cunty-cunt GrinGrin

Where is she anyway - she's not dropping a sprog too, is she?

spidermama · 21/04/2006 22:02

I see no-one has mentioned 'vestibule' yet. It has slipped out of real contention and into pure comedy I see. Wink

Greensleeves · 21/04/2006 22:03

How about "cockpit" Grin

Orinoco · 21/04/2006 22:03

we just call it girlie-bits!!

My friend used to call hers a tuppence - she says she remembers PHSL at Mary Poppins feeding the birds.......

granarybeck · 21/04/2006 22:25

spidermama, i never ever knew thats what americans called their bums! I just told my dh and he said yes, bum bags are called 'fanny packs'! Shock

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 21/04/2006 22:40

dd once declared hers her chicken-skin bottom Shock

spidermama · 21/04/2006 22:43

Yes granarybeck. I think that's hilarious. Fanny packs! They probably think 'bum bags' are bags carried by tramps.

starlover · 21/04/2006 22:43

it's a VULVA!

it isn't a mini, or a foo foo or a flower..... fgs

starlover · 21/04/2006 22:43

i mean seriously//. FOO FOO????????/

Shartpants · 21/04/2006 22:45

It reminds me of that faintly omnious children's song "Little Bunny Foo-Foo". Ugh.

Blossomhill · 21/04/2006 22:46

spidermama - the thought of a child saying "fanny" makes me cringe. Same as starlovers "vulva"

pooka · 21/04/2006 22:47

DD calls her's gina (!). From a misunderstanding - thought I said Georgina (as in the Giraffe from 64 Zoo Lane), instead of vagina. I later realised that of course should have said vulva, but the damage was done and also that's what she calls our car (a volvo). Bit convoluted really.

starlover · 21/04/2006 22:49

quite apt really pooka!

pooka · 21/04/2006 22:52

I know Grin
