because it's cute, but everyone has a problem with this :-s

Thoughts?

How do you think it would be for a child to live with that?
I couldn't do it.

usualsuspect · 03/02/2010 20:24

It's quite a common name in Hispanic cultures, I think.

jemart · 03/02/2010 20:28

Move to South America?

meoww · 03/02/2010 20:29

so much negativity, or people assuming i'm joking.
It's a good name, why should it be reserved for some religion?
Maddonna's boyfriend is called Jesus luz i believe, it sounds good.

pagwatch · 03/02/2010 20:31

it is common in hispanic cultures but it is pronounced in the spanish style.
I think the OP wants 'English' Jesus

I want Op to do it. I want to be behind her in Tescos saying 'Jesus, can you stop picking your nose you annoying little twonk' or 'mummy Jesus keps playing with his willy' or 'Jesus will need to stay behind for detention because we do not do that to the gerbils, no matter how much they seem to like it'

I really want to be there.

G'wan ..

butadream · 03/02/2010 20:32

That's because Jesus Luz is hispanic and so it is not a freaky name. Jesus Smith would be odd, Jesus Jones would sound like a band etc.

What about:

  • Joshua (which is basically the same name as Jesus anyway); or
  • Jesse?
DorcusLane · 03/02/2010 20:32

do you live in the uk??

sallyjaygorce · 03/02/2010 20:32

Heh-zooz - it would be pronounced if you want to go the Madonna's boyfriend route. Can't be any worse than Moses. I know a few Gabriels and loads of Mohammeds.

Are you actually pregnant at the moment or are you waiting for the holy ghost to show up?

Lipstickdipstick · 03/02/2010 20:33

My sisters nephew is called Jesus ( he's Spanish) go for it girl. Great anme my husband thinks it's weird but he's too wrapped up in religious dogma i'm religious and think it's cool.

jollyma · 03/02/2010 20:33

Ds1 came across a fellow gamer on his Wii called Jesus. Thought it was hilarious. Don't do it.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant with a boy.

At least my child would have an instant way of finding out who's an idiot and who's not, by how they react to his name.
If someone is going to laugh nastily or be offended by his name then they're probably not worth knowing, so at least he'd have that knowledge quickly.
