We now have a lovely little baby boy, born on Saturday. At home (no pain relief!), it was wonderful.

Now we are feeling the pressure, the pressure of a name.

Tobias - does this have a more religious or Scandinavian feel?

Rupert - hmm feedback on this not so great so far

Oscar - dh loves, very popular but it is cute

Henrik -dh's choice

What do you think?

Love Tobias, Rupert and Oscar. Think I like Rupert the best but Toby is yummy too.

I like Tobias.

Henrik has a definite Norther European feel.

Oscar is nice, but getting popular.

Rupert is a bit upper-class for me

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2009 22:23

Congratulations. I'd go for Oscar and Henrik.

MarshaBrady · 15/12/2009 22:33

Thank you! you are all lovely!

Scandinavian connection on my side, not immediate, but the boy is very blonde.

Feeling a warm glow about all of them now..

Congratulations! Nice selection of names too. Oscar is so popular now. I love Henrik. Very cool, yet not too off the wall so that people will go "what???". Plus he will be the only one in his class. Does it go well with your last name?

Hulababy · 15/12/2009 22:40

Congratulations

I like Oscar best/

cory · 15/12/2009 22:42

Congratulations!

Oscar is so popular now that I've gone off it.

I would vote for Rupert. I have a friend called Rupert and he is lovely, we also call him Roo.

MrsStig · 15/12/2009 22:47

Well, I have an Oscar..it's very, very popular around here now. I love Rupert....I really love it.

Congratualtions on our boy!

MrsStig · 15/12/2009 22:48

Your boy, obviously....

DitaVonCheese · 15/12/2009 23:06

Henrik or Tobias, but pref Henrik (don't think Tobias has a religious feel though).

Congratulations!

They are all lovely. Henrik and Tobias are my favourites. Rupert would be rather posh for me, but I think that depends on the area you live in.

GrumpyWhenWoken · 15/12/2009 23:16

Henrik is lovely - gets my vote

and congratulations x x

Mincepiedermama · 15/12/2009 23:25

I like them all but would leave Oscar off the list because it's fab but very popular.

Congratulations on your home birth.

nooka · 16/12/2009 05:49

I prefer Tobit to Tobias. I have a cousin called Rupert, which seems to work well for him. Oscar does seem often mentioned.

diddl · 16/12/2009 08:27

Love Tobias.

MarshaBrady · 16/12/2009 09:36

Oh this is great. We have narrowed down to Henrik or Tobias and feel so relieved to be getting close to deciding.

Thank you Mincepie. We are rather effusive about home births now in this house. Dh was gobsmacked and tells anyone that will listen, 'gave birth at home!, sans gas!, standing up!'.

Henrik is great, but you wil have to tread carefully if you ever come to Glasgow if you choose it.

Also like Oscar, but v popular, not so keen on Rupert or Tobias.

MarshaBrady · 16/12/2009 09:47

What happens in Glasgow? Is it football related

OP posts:
midnightexpress · 16/12/2009 10:09

Of course.

Henrik Larsson played for Celtic, and believe it or not (and I find it hard, I must say) that would be a big deal, should your child ever go to school here. But otherwise I think it is a great name.
