We've picked the name Aaron for our son, but since deciding on it have discovered that people are pronouncing the name in different ways. I wanted to do a quick poll and see how you think it should be said.

I would pronounce it Ar-ron
My ds is Arran
Great name choice!!

Air-en. When I used to go to church as a child, it was always Moses and Air-en, never Moses and Arron.

Pinkjenny · 30/10/2009 15:11

MaryBS · 30/10/2009 15:12

Arron. But then I am Welsh and pronounce Albany as Al-banny rather than Aul-buny!

TheDevilEatsBabies · 30/10/2009 16:11

it is intersting: a boy at my secondary school was called Aaron, and all the way through school he pronounced it Air-ron, then when I met him as an adult, he pronounced it Arron.

don't know whether that's because he discovered he was saying it wrong all of a sudden! or whether he just preferred it the other way.

PoppyIsApain · 30/10/2009 16:12

A-run, maybe that is my mix of accents though

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 30/10/2009 16:13

Ondine · 30/10/2009 17:40

Aaron - Air un
Arran/Arron/Aron etc I would pronounce Arun.

Anya4 · 30/10/2009 18:19

I know quite a few different ones - the English ones I know are all Air- on and the Scottish/NI ones I know are Arron -

But once you get to know the Aaron you just get used to however they say it - like Mia (Meea or Mya) - so I think people would adapt to whatever you choose.....

Firawla · 30/10/2009 19:20

I think the majority of people these days prn it Arron?
