...brothers Thomas and George, also have a strong boys name as a surname that begins with O, so we have to be careful with initials.

I am looking for something different to Max and Jack, but as nice as them, maybe a little bit wacky but not too much, and deffo not poncey (I am a Southerner in the North West, I have to be careful with my accent) We have been through countless name books/websites and not hit on the one yet, so it's over to you lot!

To give an idea, my favourites are Seth, Seb(astian), Albert (Albie), DH likes Charlie and Harrison, neither of us like each others (Well to be fair, I love Harrison, but I don't like 'Arrison, which is what it becomes up here!)

My friend (in Australia) so you don't have to worry about ever running into her... has two lovely boys. First one Thomas and the second one Jude, which initially seems a bit poncey but has really grown on me.

Albert/Gilbert (I love Bertie as a nn)

SquiffyHock · 03/12/2008 11:34

I have the same problem as you - DH only likes James and seems to veto everything else! Just so you know, we have an Edward who was always going to be Ted when I was pregnant but we have never called him that. He is Edward, Ed or Eddy (or Bear!). One of the reasons that I love it is that there are so many derivitives.

SpaceTrain · 03/12/2008 11:47

He said no to Aurelius? I can't believe it!

What about Philip? Or Ethan?

clubfoot · 03/12/2008 12:13

What about my current fav Edgar. Bit more unusal than Edward but not as poncey as Edmund I think.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 12:16

LOL Aurelius actually provoked a raised eyebrow.

Was a shame he didn't get Rudy, I was impressed with that.

Already have a Nick and an Ethan in the families.

His interests.... erm... Bolton FC, but we've been through players past and present and none are any good for names. His other love is commercial dish washers Not sure Electrolux could be passed as suitable for a person's name I'm certainly not going to ask him in case he says yes!!

He has said he could come round to Samuel or Dylan, but we have a Sam(antha) in the family, and Dylan is nice but not what I would be over joyed with. I keep harping back to it, but they are just too normal. I know Thomas and George aren't exactly different, but I think that is why I want something different, but classically different so it's not like Thomas, George and (daren't actually enter a name incase I offend anyone!).

Oh and he was trying it on with James last night, and said how silly it was that I'd let the fact that someone famous has the same name stop us using it, but then when I offered up Alvin, straight away his response was "but it's a chipmunk" Grrrrrr! He had the grace to grin at me.

Callum

Benji

Rex

maretta · 03/12/2008 12:20

Wilbur

maretta · 03/12/2008 12:21

I think you should keep at him with the ALbert suggestion. It fits your brief perfectly.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 03/12/2008 12:23

We have a Zachary in the family, Callum he doesn't like, can't have Benji because of the intials, and Rex I like, he says it sound's like a dog's name.

I love Wilbur, when I asked him about it, he looked at me like my head had just done a 360.
