...brothers Thomas and George, also have a strong boys name as a surname that begins with O, so we have to be careful with initials.

I am looking for something different to Max and Jack, but as nice as them, maybe a little bit wacky but not too much, and deffo not poncey (I am a Southerner in the North West, I have to be careful with my accent) We have been through countless name books/websites and not hit on the one yet, so it's over to you lot!

To give an idea, my favourites are Seth, Seb(astian), Albert (Albie), DH likes Charlie and Harrison, neither of us like each others (Well to be fair, I love Harrison, but I don't like 'Arrison, which is what it becomes up here!)

I love all your choices apart from Harrison.

Cal is amazing blinks. Cal Oliver sounds like the sort of boy who's too nice to mess you around, but you break your heart over him just the same because his eyes are fixed on a far horizon.

Franklin
Aaron
Fergus (sure it's been suggested loads, sorry)

I wanted to call our son Arthur or Wilbur.

Why don't you just leave it up to dh. Say he can take the baby to register it's name. MY dh chose a name for our son that I wouldn't have, but it's not exactly the end of the world, and I loved my little boy before he had a name, and now he's my lovely little (named after a bunch of random sportsmen)

frazzledoldbag34 · 07/12/2008 09:10

oh god no, personally anyway I just couldn't let my DH be in charge of something so important!
I'd end up with a son called Roy or Raymond (yes, really).
And I couldn't live with that.

I like Cal though. Could be short for Callum or just Cal?

ihatemyjob · 07/12/2008 09:30

Jared? its biblical. Or does it sound too much like George?

blinks · 07/12/2008 11:52

i concur choosyfloozy- romantic yet manly

I got Cal from the Bernard MacLaverty book but not sure if it was an abbreviation... it's unusual without being daft.

theramones · 07/12/2008 12:15

Spider

Cal is also a character in the wonderful 'The Riches' (with Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver). If you've never seen it look out for the repeats on Virgin / Virgin 1. Faaabulous.
Cal is their son. Pretty cool character.

MadMazza · 07/12/2008 20:13

My boys are Cameron James and Dominic Piers and their names suit them perfectly (I'm a very very proud Mum )

no, afraid not i'm poorly with some sort of infection, have been on iv ab's since friday they've made no difference, they are waiting for blood cultures to come back to see exactly what the infection is, but they are fairly certain it's nothing to do with baby, but the effects of it are effecting him, my high temp, fast pulse, etc. so i have to stay here till they know what's going on.

t'is ds2's 2nd birthday today so have spent most of the day whimpering to myself

So sorry you are feeling ill, hope your are feeling better soon.
So whats the name??

Innat · 07/12/2008 21:04

Sounds to me like you should wait till after the baby is born, then your dh will be so overcome with emotion about the wonderful thing you have just done he should go along with any of your choices!

Hope you get better soon - you poor thing.
