Jacklyn or Jacquelyn?

I love the way that Americans pronounce the name Jacqueline and am certain that I want DD’s name to be pronounced like that. In the UK, ‘Jacqueline’ is not going to receive the pronunciation that I’m intending. What do you think of Jacklyn or Jacquelyn? DH likes the first spelling better, and I prefer the second. I’m typically not keen on alternate spellings, but I see these as entirely separate names with different pronunciations so don’t think it quite counts as that.

Jacqueline (this spelling) is a lovely name on paper. You should pronounce it whatever way you want and others will do what they want. If you are happy for your child's name to be mispronounced (it wouldn't bother me I don't think) then I would go for this. As many PPs have mentioned the French pronunciation and the British version are a bit different so I'm not sure worrying about the pronunciation is terribly important (...unless it is to you...?). Sorry - I realise that I have been unhelpful - but I like the original spelling MUCH more.

Just tell people how to pronounce it. It’s not a big deal and everyone who uses her name on a regular basis will do ask you ask. Spell it correctly though because that’s the prettiest written down. The alternate spellings aren’t nearly as nice.

No idea but expect it to be spelt wrong forever! I have an auntie Jackie/Jacqueline and I can never figure out how best to spell it. Even her own mother spelt it wrong at times which never helped me with getting it right!

Fine if you want to spend your life / your daughter’s life correcting the spelling as people in the UK will spell it the Traditional UK way. Most people will see the spelling you propose and assume it’s an error.
