FrannyandZooey · 29/05/2008 20:51

ds's name was recommended to me several times when I was looking for a name for dc2

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:51

yes

dd1 is apparently too common

dd2 is apparently too chav

JackieNo · 29/05/2008 20:51

Well I don't look at all the baby name threads, but no, very rarely. DS occasionally, but not DD.

whomovedmychocolate · 29/05/2008 20:51

I don't even read the baby names threads. Frankly I don't give a stuff if various random people want to call their babies Donald or Quentin

expatinscotland · 29/05/2008 20:51

Mine haven't been and probably won't be.

RustyBear · 29/05/2008 20:52

I don't remember ever having seen DS's name, but it's a very traditional Biblical one, not controversial in any way.
DD's has been described as 'chavvy' on here before now.

Kewcumber · 29/05/2008 20:52

not so's I've noticed which is odd really as DS has a fairly popular run of the mill kind of name.

sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 20:53

DD1 is boring

DD2 very rarely mentioned (uncommon)

DD3 (TBC) mentioned a few times.

Hulababy · 29/05/2008 20:53

Yes - generally more positive than negative; a bit too popular for some.

sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 20:53

expat - I have mentioned one of yours before, I really liked it for DD3 but it was too close to DD1's name.

cheesesarnie · 29/05/2008 20:54

dont think so.mine are all common though so suprised.dd has a name that was very common for millenium baby.ds1 and ds2 are very traditional names, both trains.

Lizzylou · 29/05/2008 20:54

DS1's name is either too common/too pretentious
DS2's is a bit posh/lovely

Couldn't give a damn!

AdamAnt · 29/05/2008 20:54

Yes - someone posted 'OMG do you remember that thread about the child named xxxxx? That must have been a joke.' re: DS's name. And DD's name gets mentioned every now and then as it's a reasonably common name.

Oliveoil · 29/05/2008 20:54

mine are Sharmayne and Zoe-Ella Mae

not seen them tbh

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 20:56

Expat, you must CAT me your children's names! I'm so curious.

I have seen my dd's name mentioned but not my son's. It is too unfashionable!

cheesesarnie · 29/05/2008 20:59

im curious on AdamAnt dc name!

shelleylou · 29/05/2008 20:59

My ds's name is commen and chavvy as well i think according to some. I really dont care about other's opion i love the name and it suits him.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:01

Was your son named Cinderella Adamant? I'm so curioustoo. I'm going to burst not knowing. What a weirdo I know.

Wallace · 29/05/2008 21:05

my ds1's is mentioned in posh threads, or "what a stupid name to call your baby" thread

dd's - never

ds2's - quite commonly recommended

micci25 · 29/05/2008 21:05

dd1's name has never mentioned and im fairly sure that it wont be dp thought that it was a made up name when i met him! its not. just uncommon now. every who meets her says what a lovely name apart from dp's nephew who asked why she has a boys name!!!

dd2s name is quite common but i dont think that i have ever heard it on here.

PuppyDogTails · 29/05/2008 21:06

Mine has been to mixed reception

Pen74 · 29/05/2008 21:08

DS1's is mentioned a fair bit. Mostly positive but some seem to despise it.

DS2's is occasionally mentioned. Gets a good response but was described by one as the middle-class Kevin of the 90s, which made me smile.

My top names for 'the next one' are rarely mentioned.

MadBadandDangeroustoKnow · 29/05/2008 21:10

Mine has but not often - majority view is very favourable but significant minority consider it poncey. Variation on my own name has just been greeted warmly, wwile husband's name is so dull I doubt it'll ever be mentioned.
