Girl name - Navy

Is the girl name ‘Navy’ just a bit nuts?

When I first heard it I thought it was ridiculous, but now I kind of like it. The thought of shouting ‘Navy’ across the park is a bit silly though isn’t it?

Violet is a flower so same vibe as Rose, Daisy and Heather rather than the colour

I prefer Armie, as in Hammer.

Lilac is a flower name isn't it?

It is, because it's the same shade of purple as the flower.

But it's a case in point really: you don't find people called "Purple."

There is just something about it that I love. No connection to the Navy!

I think one of the main characters in an old Judy Bloom book was called Navy.

It may be ok with your surname but what if a child called Navy wants to marry a person with the surname White, Green, Brown etc... ? But then it doesn't matter what other people think, it's about helping children to develop self-confidence so if negative comments are made about their name, they can give a clever response.

Sorry OP, I don't like Navy as a name.

We know a little girl called Indigo, again not to my taste but I do think it's a little more name-like.

Well, likewise, why not Yellow or Tangerine or Purple or Brown?

Grey really isn’t a great name either but at least it doesn’t mean a naval force.

I think the names been ruined for me as I know siblings: Navy, Army and Sailor - but I think it is a lovely name

It's a 'no' from me. With all the lovely names there are in the world, why call ANY child that?

I've heard it before, an Israeli name I think. But it's spelt different, like Nevi I think? Pronounced Navy.
It reminds me obviously of the military. But it's not really awful. It's quite unique. I quite like the names Blue, Violet, Indigo. Even Red is a cute name. So colour themed names are quite cute. I guess they could date badly though.

I like it, but then I also like Sailor for a girl 🤷🏻‍♀️ Far beyond my baby days, which may be a good thing after reading through this thread 😂
