Mia Wren?

Gosh I am struggling for a middle name!!

What do you think? Any one syllable middle name options to go with Mia would be appreciated please!

I loooove Mia Rose, even though it’s a safe option but can’t use it for various reasons.

I’d like to keep one syllable if possible as we have a mouthful of a surname so flows better and is in keeping with my other two children (but not totally opposed to longer middle names if they go)

others we considered

Mia Beau
Beau was actually our top choice first name if we were to have a boy

Mia Belle
I love this but my husband thinks it just sounds like ‘me a bell’ 🤣

Mia Elle
Just a thought as an alternative to above but not loving it

Mia Lise

@wisestbee23 , I was pointing out that the post that said your post was mean and ignorant was more mean and ignorant than yours.
In other words, I was defending your post.

The OP @Amyjade2022 was reaching out and trying to reassure me - it was a reply upthread by @Smike that was unkind and mocking that she was referring to in her quoted post that was insulting - not mine. This site can be so confusing!

Mcdonaldsbreakfast · 17/07/2025 12:48

Mia Eve doesn’t flow and will be Miareeve with the silent ‘r’ thing.

HugoYorway · 17/07/2025 13:50

@wisestbee23 , thanks for clarifying. I agree with @Smike then. MIL's name ends in -an, and someone suggested Anne as a 'honour' middle name for DD . It seemed so contrived as to be ridiculous. If we wanted to honour her, we'd have used her name.

wisestbee23 · 17/07/2025 14:01

@HugoYorway Although that member could have made their point without the mocking insensitivity given the situation...... Sadly the name "Karen" has been largely tarnished these days by its misappropriation as a slur.

newrubylane · 17/07/2025 14:46

Beth
Kate
Pearl (although this does have the noun issue mentioned above!)
Zoe
Jean
Maeve

HugoYorway · 17/07/2025 14:57

@wisestbee23 , It has, but using Wren as a nod to Karen is about as logical as using it as a nod to Brenda, or using Eve as a nod to Beverley, or Anne as a nod to Susan. Nobody will see the connection unless it is explained.

wisestbee23 · 17/07/2025 15:52

@HugoYorway If it gives them comfort, why does it even need explaining to anyone? I see no issue, and as a name, it is beautiful anyway. Your examples are actually brilliant and inventive - it would certainly be a way of using a more modern name as a tribute if it sits within something more traditional or perhaps a little outdated. I am now on a mission to find more "hidden" monikers! Chacun a son gout. (Sorry, can't add the French accent marks!)

Liliana to honour granddad Ian?

Liliana to honour granddad Ian?

Funnily enough, this was my grandmas middle name 😆 Lilliana, not Ian - just to add 😁

Mia Constance?

"Me a constant" source of trouble,

Tbh op I think Mia is quite hard to pair with a second name. I's
d go for something very classic like Jane.

Calliopespa · 02/08/2025 03:01

Amyjade2022 · 16/07/2025 10:50

Imogen but OH hates it 😭

We also had Freya, Edie and Amelia on our shortlist

Mia Imogen sounds like too many m sounds, and Mia Amelia obviously is a no go. I don't really think the other two work either.
What about Freya Amelia? I also know an Amelia who is Mia for short.

@theunbreakablecleopatrajones
Lise is German and just pronounced Lisa so that's going to be confusing

Lise is also a French name but it’s pronounced Lease. I almost called my 2nd DD Lise but didn’t as I thought it might be confusing. I still think it’s a lovely name.

I think of Lise as French "lease" too, and its pretty. I think of Liesel as German.

LuckyHare · 02/08/2025 04:36

Mia Grace? Mia Alice?

Calliopespa · 02/08/2025 13:00

I've been thinking about this op as, while Wren is not a name I'd use myself, I can see why people like it and have endorsed it as a choice before,

I therefore couldn't quite work out why I was finding it really grated/didn't work in this instance and I think I've identified my issue with it.

The use of it as a second name makes it sound like an ornithological name - as in the Lesser Wren, or Bartram's Wren or similar. The Mia Wren.

I think it works best as a first name.
