Mia Wren?

Gosh I am struggling for a middle name!!

What do you think? Any one syllable middle name options to go with Mia would be appreciated please!

I loooove Mia Rose, even though it’s a safe option but can’t use it for various reasons.

I’d like to keep one syllable if possible as we have a mouthful of a surname so flows better and is in keeping with my other two children (but not totally opposed to longer middle names if they go)

others we considered

Mia Beau
Beau was actually our top choice first name if we were to have a boy

Mia Belle
I love this but my husband thinks it just sounds like ‘me a bell’ 🤣

Mia Elle
Just a thought as an alternative to above but not loving it

Mia Lise

I’ve met a Mia Marie

Bramble25 · 16/07/2025 19:16

Mia Wren is great but my preference in terms of sound and flow would be a 2+ syllable name ending with a consonant sound eg
Mia constance
Mia Seren
Mia Helen
probably not your name taste but I think the flow is good like this.

MelrosePlace12 · 16/07/2025 19:17

Mia Jane (we had Mia on our list and it would have been Mia Jane -- we went with Eliza Jane in the end)
Mia Alice
Mia Grace
Mia Anne
Mia Jude
Mia Hope m

I personally love it with a two syllable middle name (even with a mouthful of a second name as Mia is so simple)

Would depend on whether your surname starts with a vowel or not as to whether it would flow starting with a vowel but:

Mia Ivy
Mia Sophie
Mia Louise

CJones11 · 16/07/2025 19:19

Mia Joy is lovely.

Mia Jane is classic.

Mia Wren is modern.

That’s hilarious, particularly as no one is likely to make any connection to the departed grandmother unless she keeps pointing out to all and sundry out that giving your child the name of a small, brien bird is really, kind of, if you squint, short for ‘Karen’.

For those of us who matter and cared about her, it's a very touching tribute and really not so far off the name of Karen? (Thinking currently of "Moth" as in Timothy or "Topher" as in Christopher) It won't matter to anyone else who didn't know her, so will not need explaining. I think it's a beautiful gesture, it goes well with the first name, and it was a lovely thing to do in honour of someone who left us far too soon. If we all liked the same names it would be a dull old world - and I would never mock another person's choice.

Hazelmaybe · 16/07/2025 19:57

Mia June
Mia Jade
Mia Juliet
Mia Elizabeth (long but works)

motherofbantams · 16/07/2025 18:58

The Italian for wren is scricciolo (sound like scritch yolo said fast) - which is such a lovely word to say.
Mia Adaline is nice

Scricciolo - yes, I think we have a winner here!

I agree with @MaJoady Mia Wren is somehow making animal noises in my head!!
I think it needs a harder sound to balance out Mia…..
Mia Grace
Mia Josephine
Mia Quinn
Mia Jasmine
Mia Charlotte
Mia Daisy
Mia Jean

Agree!

Really like Quinn and Jean (MJ)

I’m not a fan of Wren. Rose/Grace/May are overused to the point of being utterly dull.

Belle/Bella/Beau are way too twee. I think you need something stronger to offset Mia. Like Elizabeth, Catherine, Jessica, Josephine, Ross it’s just a bit twee and like she’s going to be 2 forever.

I think Madison Wren is absolutely beautiful! And a lovely way to honour. Such a mean ignorant comment I wouldn’t take notice! x

Forget about number of syllables and choose a middle name that has meaning to you. Because it sounds like you chose family names for the middle names of DC1 and DC2 - and you obviously didn’t worry about other people’s opinions for those (because if you had asked on this board May and James would have got slated because they are the generic middle names for this generation of kids - but guess what, it doesn’t matter because they have personal significance to you). If I was DC3 I would want to be treated the same as my siblings and have a middle name that had some meaning to my family 🤷‍♀️

BootballJoy · 16/07/2025 22:16

I like Wren as a name, but i think to flow with Mia, if flow matters to you (it does to me), you should avoid names starting with a vowel so not sure about some of your other options.

Mia Jane/June/Joan/Jean all fine
Mia Katherine
Mia Sophie
Mia Bella sounds fine to me, but I'm not too bothered about meanings
Mia Tess
Mia Bessie
Mia Frances
Mia Louise
Mia Genevieve

Viviennemary · 16/07/2025 22:18

No. That sounds awful. Choose a different name.

Lengokengo · 16/07/2025 22:18

To a dutch person, Mia Wren, sounds like you are saying ‘ants’.

Probably not a huge problem, but is what I immediately thought!

Anabellie · 16/07/2025 22:20

Mia Grace

Mumofgirls2017 · 16/07/2025 22:34

Mia doesn’t have To go with a 1 syllable name! But included some…

mia joy
mia pearl
mia june
mia violet
mia harriet
mia clementine
mia dorothy
Mia vivienne
mia florence

VeryQuaintIrene · 16/07/2025 23:18

Sorry but Mia Clementine made me laugh - me a satsuma etc etc. Mia Dorothy is lovely, though.

motherofbantams · 17/07/2025 07:34

Amyjade2022 · 17/07/2025 10:16

What do you think of Mia Eve?

if this baby turns out to be a boy after all this middle name debate I might cry 🤣

With such a short first name I’d go longer middle.

Mia Evangeline
Mia Juliet
Mia Violet

etc

TheyreLikeUsButRichAndThin · 17/07/2025 10:20

@Redburnett I know at least 3 real life people called Wren so yes, it’s a name.

HugoYorway · 17/07/2025 11:51

@Amyjade2022 , using Wren to honour a Karen is quite a stretch, and I'd think that someone doing that with my name were insulting my name.

Your post was far more mean and ignorant than @wisestbee23 's.

Crikey, I'm new to posting on this site - but I don't think I'll engage again! I can't see where I was insulting anyone! I was merely defending my God-daughter's choice to honour her Mum by using Wren as her middle name. She would have been thrilled - never insulted. My friend (the Grandmother) of more than 50years died very suddenly recently and never got to see her grandchild. If her daughter wants to use "Wren" in homage to the name "Karen" then I think it's neither a stretch nor anybody's business to criticise her choice! Wren's are dear little birds, make intricate nests, are feisty and have the sweetest song that uplifts you when you hear it, so for that reason alone the name is a good one. I am hoping @HugoYorway that you made a mistake in responding perhaps to the wrong person or quoted post? If I knew that sharing reasons for using the name Wren would bring negativity towards me, I would never have bothered, but I don't know how to delete posts yet.....
