How do you like that?

Yes I really like both, Romeo is 👌

worldso · 03/07/2025 21:32

Roman is really popular and I do think it will date.

dontcomeatme · 03/07/2025 21:33

I always preferred Ronan over Roman

dontcomeatme · 03/07/2025 21:35

What happened to Alexander, Misha, Michael, and Myron? When is the baby due?

Holiday24 · 03/07/2025 21:38

I think Romeo is much nicer than Roman.

Quirkswork · 03/07/2025 21:40

I really like them. Assuming the boy grows up to be cool and also goodlooking. Otherwise Romeo at least might be a bit of a curse...

They are still in the list for Slavic/latin/roman names… but still don’t feel the one… I envy that others make decisions so fast… I still don’t feel it. Sorry if that’s bothering you…

Why do you think it will date? It has been in my country for ages….

I know a lot of Romans and they are all under five. There isn’t anything wrong with it, it is just in the same way that Clare is a name of the 80s I think Roman is roughly 2015- present.

CurlewKate · 03/07/2025 22:04

Oh, you can’t call the poor boy Romeo! They do still do Shakespeare in school, you know!

Cornal · 03/07/2025 22:05

I think of them as two very different names

BrendaSmall · 03/07/2025 22:07

To be honest I don’t like either of them, Roman & Ronan is very common nowadays

Stefanosgirl · 03/07/2025 22:21

I prefer Roman to Romeo.

ClareVoiance · 03/07/2025 22:22

Are you pregnant @Tkoko ?
I don't like the names. Roman isn't a very attractive name and Romeo is bordering on ridiculous.

@worldso , Clare is a 1970s name.

Goingawayistricky · 03/07/2025 22:27

SE nice bit - I only know one Roman ( teen) and he's lovely. Never heard it as a name before. I like it.
Romeo I associate with the Beckham's so an instant no from me.

Not bothering me at all. Just wondered when the little one is due ?

AllPlayedOut · 04/07/2025 10:10

I love Roman but I really dislike Romeo.

I love Roman but I really dislike Romeo.

I just love the softness of it… but can’t come up with the names that sound so nice…

Roman is better.
Those saying it will date - I know a Roman who is in his 50s so it's hardly a "new" name.
Romeo is nice but it's always going to be associated with Romeo and Juliet which is a tragic play.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 04/07/2025 10:40

Not keen on either. Roman is a very hard name and makes me think of force and destruction. Romeo will only ever be connected with Shakespeare, and not in a good way!

ClareVoiance · 04/07/2025 10:44

@Needmorelego , there are men of different ages called Roman, but for anyone in their 50s or older, the name is associated with Roman Polanski (bad).
Younger people will think of Roman Abramovich or Roman Kemp.
The name seems to have become popular quickly, which tends to mean it will be very popular but only for a short period.

I don't like the sound of it and it makes me think of ruins, remains, etc.

Needmorelego · 04/07/2025 10:58

@ClareVoiance that's why I don't understand why people are saying it will date.
It's a name that could be for a 80 year old bloke or a baby.

mediumdicketh · 04/07/2025 11:24

I have a family member called roman its a beautiful name and his absolutey beautiful aswell.

ClareVoiance · 04/07/2025 12:41

@Needmorelego , it was very unusual about 80 years ago, unless he had a Slavic background.

I quite like Romeo but not keen on Roman - just personal preference I think, and Roman might feel dated in a few years as it it quite fashionable now. Romeo is more classic.
