How does the name Archer sound for a baby boy?

We are going to have a baby boy soon, and I really like the name Archie. However, I’m not sure if it will suit him as he grows up, so I was thinking of naming him ‘Archer Storm’. I was wondering if the name Archer is common and if it pairs well with the middle name Storm. Also, any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I’d love to have a trendy English name rather than a more traditional one 🥰

I really don't like it op, sorry to be blunt. I think it's already quite dated and with the middle name Storm is really bad. Are there any other names you like so we could get an idea of other names which you'd also consider and could give alternative suggestions?

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/01/2025 07:47

Just no. If you like Archie use Archie. But Storm? And Archer Storm? Please don’t do that to your child.

mum1345 · 04/01/2025 07:47

I like the name Archer but not sure on the name Storm x

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/01/2025 07:49

Archer yes, nice enough. I like it more than Archie. But Archer Storm? haha imagine that corker on his wedding day

Sherararara · 04/01/2025 07:51

Archer Storm sounds like the protagonist in a series of cheap adventure novels. A poor man Jack Reacher.

BananagramBadger · 04/01/2025 07:51

Sounds like a character from a romantasy novel.

mitogoshigg · 04/01/2025 07:51

Sounds more like a character from gladiators. Give him at least one proper name so he has options if he doesn't want a modern trendy non name.

Moreteaandchocolate · 04/01/2025 07:52

I like Archer nn Archie. As you say, it’s a trendy, modern name with a great nn. I’m not personally keen on Storm but it’s good as a middle name if you love it.

Sounds like you're naming gladiators

HumanbyDesign · 04/01/2025 07:59

I think archer is a fine name (although autotype won't capitalise it which is telling!) and a good way of "maturing" Archie, but storm is a bit too X-Men IMO... One of those names which will make your child cringe when IDing as an adult, guaranteed! 😁

DustyLee123 · 04/01/2025 08:01

Don’t like it, it reminds me of a peach flavoured alcoholic drink.

PreferMyAnimals · 04/01/2025 08:02

Archer isn't my cup of tea, but we can't all like the same names or it would be boring. I do know someone with a grandson named Archer. They call him the full Archer, not Archie. I think it's good to give a 'grown up' name like Archer and then shorten it to Archie. Then he has options.

Sinkintotheswamp · 04/01/2025 08:02

I think your pregnancy hormones are talking.
Archer is a cute middle name though. But not with Storm, that's too much.

Jeeeeez · 04/01/2025 08:06

Archer yes, Storm absolutely not. As a pp said it sounds like you’re naming Gladiators.

Danger Zone Someone GIF

This was the most appropriate Archer gif i could find to summarise my feelings about the name "Archer Storm"

NewGreenDuck · 04/01/2025 08:10

Call him Archibald. ( no please don't,) Sorry but no to both the names.

PreferMyAnimals · 04/01/2025 08:11

Middle names are pretty much invisible anyway, so if you like Archer Storm, I wouldn't let the opinions stop you. He'll just be Archer LastName to everyone.

LlynTegid · 04/01/2025 08:12

Please don't given him the same name as the surname of a convicted perjurer.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 04/01/2025 08:15

Do not name your child Archer Storm - it sounds like a shitty comic book character.

Or a porn star.

Begethwin · 04/01/2025 08:17

I know one Archer. He's about 5. He repeatedly gets Archie (due yo people mishearing his name) and his mum rather forcefully corrects people. So it depends on how wedded to Archer for day to day usage you are.

Definitely not Archer Storn though.

buttonousmaximous · 04/01/2025 08:18

Love Archie, Archer is also nice. Not sure on Storm.

I know an Archie James.

DiscoBeat · 04/01/2025 08:18

Archer is a surname and Storm sounds pretentious. My kids have traditional names and have often said they're glad we didn't go for any 'out there' names.

Read the thread title and immediately howled "DANGER ZONE" in my head.

OP, I quite like Archer but I really, really hate Storm, both on its own and combined with any first name.
