Variation of Karen for a boy

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my mum died unexpectedly 4 weeks ago. Her name was Karen and me and husband would LOVE to honour her as our babies middle name but he's a boy.

Does anyone have any ideas how we can make a more masculine version of Karen?

Not sure any of them are great names.

Did your mum have a middle name or a maiden name she was attached to?

KnickerlessParsons · 24/08/2023 20:20

Karl?

toastofthetown · 24/08/2023 20:21

Sorry for your loss. Ken? Or maybe I just enjoyed the Barbie movie too much.

Or did your Mum have a favourite plant (Rowan/Acer or something) that would make you think of her? Or a middle name that has a male form?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 24/08/2023 20:22

I don't think there is one, sadly.

Second the maiden name idea. My middle name is the feminine version of my DM's maiden name but that doesn't work with all names.

Natty83 · 24/08/2023 20:23

I'm sorry for your loss. Ciaran/Kieran.

Kynan?

Kieran

Karen comes from Katherine, so the male version is Kit.

Yes, Karl would be perfect. I’m so sorry for your loss

Karen comes from Katherine, so the male version is Kit.

Kit is from Christopher.

KirstenBlest · 24/08/2023 20:25

I think Karen is a variant of Catherine, meaning 'pure', so a male name with the same meaning?
I think Karim means noble.

Jasperdale · 24/08/2023 20:26

Kanan?

Puffalicious · 24/08/2023 20:26

I used my mum's maiden name. It sounds great.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 24/08/2023 20:26

Sorry for your loss OP, it's a nice idea .

Did she have a middle name ?

Neverseenbefore · 24/08/2023 20:26

Karen already is a male name in some countries -quite a common one as well. Armenia, for example, and Iran. I think you could use it as it is.

msbevvy · 24/08/2023 20:31

Kary

Neverseenbefore · 24/08/2023 20:35

An anagram?
Krane?
Kearn?

KirstenBlest · 24/08/2023 20:35

Karran, Curren - but both sort of miss the point

Monkeytapper · 24/08/2023 20:37

I’d go with Kane
