Variation of Karen for a boy

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my mum died unexpectedly 4 weeks ago. Her name was Karen and me and husband would LOVE to honour her as our babies middle name but he's a boy.

Does anyone have any ideas how we can make a more masculine version of Karen?

So sorry for your loss.

Like PP's said, Keiran or however you choose to spell it.

Or Corran?

InsaneInTheMamBrain · 26/08/2023 21:29

Karel or Carel. Karen means pure, according to Google. Kasen is a boy’s name which also means pure.

Went to school for a little while with a boy called Karen, it was a long (long!) time ago, thought he was Russian, but he may have been Armenian.

Eihp05 · 26/08/2023 21:59

“The masculine given name Garen is a Western Armenian form of the Eastern Armenian Karen.” So there’s that.

Karen is a Danish name, meaning “pure”. Technically Ren means pure/clean in Danish so you could go with that.

Cary.

Karen comes from Katherine, so the male version is Kit.

Kit is short for Christopher so that doesn’t work.

missymousey · 26/08/2023 22:14

Corran?

BillyNotQuiteNoMates · 26/08/2023 22:20

Karen means “pure”
what about Kaylan, which also means pure?

ThreeLocusts · 26/08/2023 22:23

Sorry for your loss. And first time I realise there is no male counerlart for Karen.

I'd start with the meaning - I think Karen is from cara/diminutive carina, Italian adjective meaning beloved, appreciated, also expensive. There have to be nice-sounding male names of similar meaning.

Otoh I like the sound of Kareem, and it has a nice meaning, generous. One of the most-used term of praise for God among Muslims.

You'll find something. Hoe you gt time to grieve, birth prep notwithstanding.

Mirabai · 26/08/2023 22:25

Karan is an Indian male name.

Karim/Kieran?

So sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad whilst pregnant in November last year, and it was tough. Unfortunately, he was called Kevin, and he hated his name.. and I had a girl 💔

Boymummy321 · 26/08/2023 22:54

Kaiyan
Kyan
Ren

so sorry to hear of your loss

Airspice · 26/08/2023 23:29

Hjondf · 26/08/2023 17:52

Sorry for your loss OP. The name Kairen could be used and looks similar written down to Karen. It’s an Anglicised version of the Japanese name. ’Kai’ meaning water or the sea and ‘Ren’ meaning either love or water lotus. Pronounced Ky-ren.

Definitely the best suggestion!

almostoverthehill · 27/08/2023 01:27

Karun (means compassionate)

Or maybe a middle name beginning with K to honour mum?

Leab23 · 27/08/2023 09:06

Sorry for your loss, karter? X
