Variation of Karen for a boy

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and my mum died unexpectedly 4 weeks ago. Her name was Karen and me and husband would LOVE to honour her as our babies middle name but he's a boy.

Does anyone have any ideas how we can make a more masculine version of Karen?

Karen already is a male name in some countries -quite a common one as well. Armenia, for example, and Iran. I think you could use it as it is.

Yes, but usually spelt ‘Karan’, I think. Which was going to be my suggestion. Sorry for your loss @colourPink

Hi OP. I don’t have any answers about your mother’s name. My mother passed away while I was pregnant with my first, and I just wanted you to know that I know how you must be feeling. It was easier for me with the name dilemma as I had a little girl. Your mother will live on through your son, and I wish you every happiness, and hope you find ways to honour your mother. Good luck with everything x

No, Karan is a different male name altogether, from India. Karen is a male name is Armenia and Iran.

A massive thank you to so many of you - your kindness has been extraordinary ❤️

So many suggestions and some of them are shortlisted for our baby boy.

Lots of people asking about her middle name which was Ann and her surname which isn't suitable as, although it'll be easily shortened to a boys name, it links too closely to someone we don't want him to be named after.

Thanks again - it's been so touching reading all your well wishes xx

Reading the above posts which gave some excellent suggestions I'd pick

Kit
Wren
Karan

Lovely idea and I'm sorry for your loss.

Statayall1317 · 27/08/2023 22:21

Statayall1317 · 27/08/2023 22:23

daisyrosie · 27/08/2023 23:27

so sorry for your loss 😔♥️
I would use Kay ♥️ X

Baron - Unusual but there's been 54 little boys called Baron (in England and Wales) since 1996. Plus maybe a few more for years where there may had been less than 3 born that year - Names don't show up on the statistics if there used less than 3 times.

Sorry for your loss.

Karne, Krane... so sorry for your loss xx

Sorry for your loss. Karsen?

Karenin (Russian boys name) or something quirky like Koren or Karo? But to be honest I really like the idea of using the maiden name, even if sounds like just an extra surname. I have my maternal grandma’s maiden name as a middle name - it’s a classic welsh surname - and I really like having a reminder of my welsh roots 😆might also be preferable to your son as a male.

REN?

REN?

this thread is actually nuts

Kylo Ren? It’s a name. I saw a film with a character in it called Kylo Ren…

DerekFaker · 30/08/2023 20:56

The name Ren is both a boy's name and a girl's name of Japanese origin meaning "water lily; lotus".
