Faraday or Iris or...?

Struggling to find a girl's name I love.

I like slightly unusual but not too 'out-there' names, and also not a huge fan of girls' names ending in -a, though there are a few exceptions.

Is Faraday too out there? Any other suggestions?

Faraday is definitely without a doubt too out there. OP you may be at the stage of pregnancy I was at when I thought Valedina would be a pretty name.
Fear not MN, I came to my senses and put it down to crazy pregnancy hormones clouding my judgement!

I haven’t read all the responses so sorry if someone has already pointed this out but you realise that Faraday ends in an a/ay sound??

And this is a dilemma because??

Faraday is a metal used pouch I keep my car key in overnight so it won’t get nicked !

I was also going to suggest Loveday.

Farida is a Muslim name - heaps better than the ugly Faraday.

Faraday is the name of those signal blocking pouches for car keys to stop the car being stolen. I hear faraday and see the black signal blocking key pouch!

Lots of lovely and slightly unusual names about that you might love - google is filled with endless lists of names.

If you love Faraday and other names aren’t what you want then go for it…once people hear it, meet her and get used to it the other connections people have suggested with the name will lessen and it just becomes your little girl they think of when they hear it. A lot of names are really unusual but once someone you know uses them they become totally normal to you I suppose don’t they 😊

My friends daughter is called Faraday, it was one of the contestants on the weakest link names she was watching when pregnant.She has always had very positive feedback about her name and it’s often shortened to Farah. Never met another Faraday.

I like Faraday, not so keen on Iris as it is a bit too popular at the moment

Faraday is definitely too out there. I hear it and think ‘cage’ and school physics lessons. She would be forever having to explain it to people. Farrah a better alternative imho.

Call yourself Faraday if you like and watch people's reactions to give you an idea of how people would react to your baby.

Iris is lovely as is Azalea, Zinnia, Delphine, Violet, Veronica, Heather and Zena.

If we're going for science names then Current is fine itself 😄

How about Elodie? I've always thought that was a beautiful name.
