DH likes Aria and I like Wren…

But we don’t particularly agree!
we like unusual names but not unheard of. He’s not keen on Wren which is fair enough. I like how Aria sounds but I’m concerned there will be a lot of correcting ‘Area’ or ‘Ar-eye-a ‘ etc

what else might we like?

we don’t know gender and agree we like Bodhi for a boy :)

Arwen seems a logical mashup.

bibbityboppityboo · 03/07/2023 07:39

I like Wren (and only know one Wren!) but Aria is quite popular I think (main character name on a v popular tv show) and I know of a few Arias.

PPs idea of Arwen is fab - I love LOTR though so might be biased 😂

cuckyplunt · 03/07/2023 07:39

All awful, go and do better!

Littlemisssunshine31 · 03/07/2023 07:39

@SunsetGirl i hadn’t thought of that but looking at it seems obvious! A bit lord of the rings maybe …

Arwen is lovely, there is also Anwen which is Welsh if you don't want the LotR reference.

Catchasingmewithspiders · 03/07/2023 07:45

Arianwen?

Sealover123 · 03/07/2023 07:49

Aeronwen

Littlemisssunshine31 · 03/07/2023 07:49

I really don’t mind if posters don’t like the names .. imagine if we all called our girls Charlotte! Takes all sorts and all that. However I am looking for genuine suggestions that fit this style as we already have two DD’s who have names a bit like this. Hence being a bit stuck!

I know a few Arias. I can't imagine anyone would call her Area

I get that Wren is after the bird, but all u hear is Ren. It sounds very harsh to me, not at all beautiful like the bird. Love Arwen though!

Many congrats OP.

Aria is quite popular, Wren is nice, only know one, I do also like Robyn for a girl.

Awrite · 03/07/2023 08:34

Wren is lovely.

I'd far rather a LOTR name than a GOT name so don't see the objection to Arwen. Arwen is great.

Koalawhala · 03/07/2023 08:38

Bohdi for a girl is also nice

Sandysandwich · 03/07/2023 08:38

I like Aria- I know 1 and it has never been mispronounced.

Wren will get misspelled her entire life, especially if she decides to study or live overseas. Don't do it. The first and only celebrity name that pops into my head with that name is also L Wren Scott (Mick Jagger's ex gf) who killed herself.

OopsieeDaisy · 03/07/2023 09:24

Wren just makes me think of the kitchen shop.
Aria is ok but becoming quite popular, at least in my area.
Bridie is nice and a similar style.

BCSurvivor · 03/07/2023 09:24

I love Wren!

5childrenand · 03/07/2023 09:38

Rhea popped into my head as a mash-up of the 2.

Most people know Aria because of GoT so I wouldn’t worry about the pronunciation.

Iris? Ada?

MissHavershamReturns · 03/07/2023 09:38

Viva is beautiful

ChocChipHandbag · 03/07/2023 09:43

I have a friend with an Aria, it’s from her husband’s South Asian heritage. She has never even watched Game of Thrones but it is always assumed they named their daughter after the character in that show. Drives her mad and she gets quite embarrassed.

euff · 03/07/2023 09:48

I think both are lovely names but having been looking at kitchens that's the first thing that pops in my head with wren. I have a family member named Arya and a friends daughter (named long before GOT). I would choose Arya as spelling over Aria as I think less chance of people getting pronunciation wrong. Also love the suggestion of Arwen, it seems otherworldly, and also beautiful and strong.

FASDE1517 · 03/07/2023 10:01

Aria / Arya is becoming very popular in my area.

Arla maybe?
